Western Civilization - Essay
Western civilization is the civilization of modern societies living in countries of Western Europe, Central Europe, North America, South America, Australia and New Zealand. It is a civilization with distinct culture, religion and traditions. The essay will try to convince you that contact with Western culture and opportunity for ancient civilizations.

My first argument is the fact that getting to know the culture of other civilizations, we know its habits. It can be something interesting, unusual. It has its own religion, traditions, holidays, language. We can learn many interesting things about this civilization. Second, an important factor is the fact that contacts with other cultures will help civilize the ancient tribes. Their culture is somewhat backward, so all contacts can benefit. We can teach them how to use simple equipment and everyday use. Therefore, we can show them that you can live more simply. The last argument is the fact that contacts both the two civilizations are advantageous because they bring to other civilizations lot of new things. Culture is expanding, their relations are not so arid. Civilization tends to reconciliation and to improve its relations with other civilizations.

To sum up the whole of this essay, I hope that I was able to fully and clearly demonstrate that the achievements of ancient cultures use in unchanged or only adapted to our time as to this day and it is impossible to bypass without them. Despite the huge space of time separates our world from the ancient inhabitants, we can not forget that it is largely the result not only of such trivial things for us such as fireworks, but also so great as to create a philosophical

The notion of myth in contemporary Western culture is mainly used in a pejorative sense. Often associated with imaginary fantastic tales and miracles, myth has been opposed to the “truth” of sacred writings (Paden, 1994, p.70). Myth in ancient Greek tradition initially identified “anything delivered by word of mouth” (Paden, 1994, p. 70), in contrast with deeds. Later, myth became the sacred account of the world’s origin. Myth, to participants - and anthropologist and scholars of religious studies - represents a “sacred models by which one lives” (Paden, 1994, p. 69). Eliade seminal work regarded myths as important “expressions of the sacred in words in the form of narratives” (as cited in Bhattacharyya, 2011, p. 78). He stressed the importance of observing myth as religious…

    1. Exchange and trade of goods between communities in different ecological zones has been a prominent feature of human history. Trade emerged from the vast environment and cultural diversities of the region. Long distance trade became very important because if more distance was traveled then merchants could exchange with more cultures, and prospered when societies involved in these trade roads offered security for merchants and traders. The uneven distribution of goods and resources of both natural and human activity has long motivated long distance exchange. Natural resources gained many economical value and this motivated merchants to continue doing the long distance trade. Merchants were very high rated in the social pyramid because of trading these valuable resources. Human activity helped shape cultures in political and social aspects because merchants traveled around the world and learned the more efficient ways to govern and different cultures or rituals they could adapt. Trade helped shape and link societies and people from the entire world and this motivated and sustained long distance commerce.…

During the course I realized how large of a role art plays in helping create cultures and developing and preserving the history of civilizations. I find it interesting that when there’s no written history or any historical buildings, cultures will always make their own ancient past grander than what it really is. The Israelites, the Greeks and Romans all tell stories of their history that has no written proof. It seems that we as people want to have a connection to our roots and to understand where we come from. This is why I believe that most people want to believe in a higher power.…

The period that has come to be known as the Neolithic Revolution (somewhat erroneously so [see Ponting 1991, p37]) marked the most fundamental shift in human development seen since the first bipedal human-like species walked the earth. During this time and the brief era [see Ponting 1991, p18] that has followed it to the present, humans have made a multiplicity of social, cultural and technological advancements (inclusive of the political and religious realms), all of which began with an agrarian shift by an array of hunter-gatherer societies – a shift that marked the transition from ‘savage’ Palaeolithic man to ‘economic man’.…
