In comparison to past team assignments this week’s has proven to be one we felt the most comfortable with. This week our team was able to collaborate with minimal conflict and sufficient communication, yet our grades reflect the

Week three was highlighted by the discussion of fixed assets and the use of accounting for depreciation of those assets. Businesses utilize depreciation of their fixed assets to take advantage of the tax breaks that they receive. The cost of depreciation of assets lowers the taxable income of a company and in turn allows either a higher refund or less owed in taxes. Another option that is available is the use of accelerated depreciation. This option allows for companies to accelerate the depreciation of assets to a current year's return to gain a higher tax break. The use of this tool is usually implemented in times of economic turmoil to stimulate the economy.…

CNMT 410 was an interesting class to learn about the professional workplace. The discussions on time stealing interested me the most since I had no idea what some employers consider stealing time. Besides the discussions I learned a lot about producing quality work. Before this class my resume and cover letter would’ve been a joke. Most likely I would’ve taken a generic resume from Google. The resume wouldn’t have been very personal or showcase my experience. There would have been the exact same problem with the cover letter. I had no idea before this class that the cover letter was meant to be a personal letter from myself to the hiring manager. I always thought cover letters were more or less optional and just a generic short essay on who I was as a person. The quality of my work increased tenfold just from…

My daughter is currently studying international economics and business law. She has taken several statistic and advanced actuary classes, after completing this course I have a great deal of respect for her ambitions and studies. Statistics has never been particularly interesting to me only because I did not realize how much I depend on statistical studies in my personal and professional life. I was afraid that I would find this class too difficult and struggle to complete the course. I have to admit that there were times I had trouble understanding the material. Once I started exploring the material I found it very useful and interesting. I was surprised how much I already use statistics and now that I have a better understanding, I have enjoyed using the knowledge I have gained from this class.…
