Anticipated Lesson Duration: 45 Minutes

Lesson Foundations

Pre-assessment (including cognitive and non-cognitive measures):
For the pre-assessment, I will hold a discussion with the students on what they know about astronauts, including what is needed for travel to the moon, how astronauts stay safe and what tools they use on the moon. I will observe non-cognitive abilities of the students: curiosity – The desire to know or find out, Involvement – Active, intentional control of one’s thoughts and social – working cooperatively with each other. I will also introduce strategies for comprehension, word recognition and vocabulary used in this lesson.

Curricular Focus, Theme, or Subject Area: Earth Science: Astronauts
