Best Practices for Site Navigation
Navigation presents an integral component of the design of any website; therefore, the website design is bound to affect the operation and visitors on the website. It is integral to note that effective site navigation is dependent on different design disciplines applied in the formation of a website. eBay presents a model site that has incorporated usability aspects thus easing the access of information by the clients. This essay will focus on the best practices for site navigation thus improving the implementation and usability of website design.

Information architecture presents an integral component of website design thus there should be the creation of a sitemap in all the site content pages with an explicitly formulated hierarchy. Also, user experience research is bound to facilitate the formation of a plan and strategy for website design. This process incorporates researching on the user demands, site mapping, presenting the website goals and the development of persona. The top-level navigation links should be controlled with the priority given to the fundamental pages. If possible, the dropdowns should be retained on a single level. Interior pages and submenus can help limit the number of pages on the site.
Websites are recommended to adopt the norm and apply mobile menus where possible (Fletcher.tufts.edu, 2015). The ordinary mobile indicators are noted to be indicated by the menu indicator. For responsive websites, the mobile menu should be displayed only where necessary. However, it is integral to consider the inclusion of mobile menus for small devices including mobile phones and tablets. The mobile logo should include a main menu, a logo and comprehensive site navigation tools such as a site search.
In reference to the language used, websites should

I chose the website www.amazon.com for examples, using the six design principles which are layout, content awareness, aesthetics, user experience, consistency, minimize user effort. The layout I think is consistent for different purposes, the search navigation is right at the top easy to find and the other departments are listed on the left. Content awareness is easily read the information is displayed at the top of the page for each department plus each individual item. Aesthetics are good on the website, interfaces are functional, good use of white space, colors and fonts, it’s not to overcrowded to where you don’t know what to look at first. User experience, the website is easy to use and easy to learn, after shopping frequently and logged in, also has the items you’ve looked at and might be interested in listed for you. Consistency, the interface design is usually the same when I check out the website, making it easier to navigate because I don’t have to relearn how to use the site. Minimize user effort, the interface is simple to use and easy to read, the layout is easy to navigate, spaced out so its not too overcrowded.…

I have placed my logo on the top right corner of my website because for me it’s the most suitable place to put logo. It makes logo visible and clear to see, people can easily recognize it. Many websites use the same place where I‘ve put my logo. My navigation bar is just below the shop name and the shop logo; it’s on the same place on every page, because that will make it easy for users to find it. For my website I have created 8 Webpages. On these Webpages I’ve put information about the shop, information about delivery and return policy. I’ve also put pictures of my products and description below each picture because it gives users an inside view of the shop with the pictures. To make it easier for customers to find the shop I’ve created Google map page, it gives customers direction and best routes to find the shop location. There also Webpages like products gallery and Registration form page. I’ve chosen to sell different type of gadgets because in our days technology is on high level and people are into technology.…

I have been through so many experiences with sales representatives but as well as everyone else in the world who buys goods or services from someone else. You meet different kind of salespeople anywhere where you go. They’re motives can be because they are working on commission meaning their paycheck is reflected on the amount of product or service they sell or they are just trying to be as helpful to you as possible because they like what they do. For whatever, reason it may be the goal is always to find and sell what the consumer wants. I have worked in retail in the past selling coffee for people. I did not have any experience in selling prior to the coffee shop job but the job teaches you how to sell their product. So, I have an idea how the sales representatives are going to be like and the basic structure, which brings me to one of my memorable experiences with a sales representative. I was looking for a present for my girlfriend for our anniversary. I know already that she likes this one particular brand so I went to that store. The usual greeting the moment I got in the store, “Hello, please let us know if there is anything we could help you in.” I looked around the store and stopped at their jewelry case. I have been standing there for about five minutes before a sales representative came up to me. She asked if there was anything she can help me with. I told her why I was there. The sales representative started to ask me a couple of follow up questions such as the time of the anniversary, whether my girlfriend like silver or gold, and the clothes she wears. After, answering all her questions she showed me a couple of necklaces and rings as an idea for a present. I liked all of them but I told her none of those feel right to get. Then, she asked me my feelings towards a particular product and it from there she brought out watches and bracelets. From those questions that was asked from me she pinpointed what I was looking for before…
