SHOULD YOUR ORGANIZATION ADAPT WEB CONFERENCING? IF SO,
WHAT ARE THE CONSIDERATIONS IN THE ADAOPTION AND HOW SHOULD YOU HELP YOUR ORGANIZATION TO USE WEB CONFERENCING EFFECTIVELY? Web conferencing is a very important networking tool that can be very beneficial to any organization. Web conferencing can allow members to share valuable information anytime anywhere. An important aspect of Web conferencing is it saves organizations money when it comes to company travel. Prior to this technology, companies had to travel in order to conduct this type of conference. Web conferencing has evolved from the early internet days where conferencing was typically a group discussion done via a message board. Conferencing and collaboration products accelerate and enhance human collaboration by: saving time, compressing project schedules and timelines; reducing travel expenses by virtually connecting team members locally and globally; making phone tag a thing of the past through broadcast messages that can be picked up once a user returns to the computer (Smithers & Milner, 2008). There are so many different products on the market to choose from that careful research must be done to ensure that your organization selects the right product at the right price. Web conferencing technology, where vendors have reinvented their products, as well as their prices, to win a share of the small business market (McKenzie, 2005). Traditionally, Web conferencing has been used for sales and
