Weather Forecast
The girl speaks
“Hello, yesterday, yes, was the hottest day of October on record, 29 degrees was high. Still little warm, still little sunny weather around in the forecast today and a lot of dry weather as well. That is in England and Wales, however. The north in England, the weather is changing through the coming hours. The sky is clouding over, outbreaks of rain cooler today. But the south of it, it involves in the midlands, into Linkensheare, in the eastern counties of England a beautiful afternoon to come. Right along the eastern coast away it’s got to be cooler and refresher as the breeze starts to develop. So if in land temperatures in the mid higher than twenty are too much for you, the sea has sun and more refreshing place to go. So, in the Wales it’s about to go warmth, but the north Wales to the north-west of England the weather clouded and fades. The Northern Ireland and the Western Scotland after a clouded dumpster the sky is promising to brighten as we have through the afternoon. In the main eastern areas of Scotland we will stick with pretty clouded skies and outbreaks of rain over the north through the afternoon. So for the rest of the day we’ll see more rain arriving through northern England and Wales. Over the night this weather front seems to go through the northern England and Wales, the rain will ease and because of this it remains pretty cloudy, though. And again the marine are dividing line. The south of it among the night to come, the north of it slightly fresher. And for Monday almost we must to start to see a transition in our weather back to something a little more cloud and more rain in the forecast and it comes into the north-west through Monday morning, so the north-western area of Scotland and western areas of Northern Ireland cloudy and wet. Often windy, up to fifteen at times, perhaps. And the rain continues pushing into the north of England and Wales. For the south we’ll stick without warmth and sunny weather, but slowly, unsurely, the sunshine will go a little bit later this week.

Good afternoon. Yesterday we had the hottest October day, the day, we could to break record again, just fractionally in May-June across East England and Linkensheare because for many across England and Wales it’s got to be hot and sunny weather. We keep the sunshine right for the afternoon, temperatures widely up higher the twenties and we could just to break the thirty degree mark in the past. It was the Eastern England and Linkensheare. Further north, though, much cloudy in comparison with yesterday, some outbreaks of rain, pushing southward onto Manchester, cloudy and pretty damp in Newcastle. For Scotland the most of the rain will clear away by the front in the afternoon and we could even have some brighter skies, developing in the far north. The rain will also clear away in the Northern Ireland, still pretty cloudy here during the noon with the rain moving this way into Anglesea in the far north-west of Wales. The south Wales will keep hold of the sunshine and temperatures in Cardiff about 25 degrees. Twenty two degrees the high in Plymouth. Again a little sunshine here and that’s why it is going to be a little cooler, fresher along the southern coasts. Now tonight this area of moorland continue to sink this way and in the south breaking up as it does so, introducing more cloud in the southern area, especially to the south-west of England. Meanwhile another way of system brings rain and strong winds to the far north west of Scotland and temperatures at times about twelve or sixteen in degrees. Now tomorrow it will be often cloudy in the morning. We’ll also have some sunny spells for much of England and Wales, but little showers. Across the midlands it’s going to be dry. But the weather front in the far north will sink this way to northen parts of England, clearing from Scotland and the far north of Scotland and Northern Ireland in brighter skies. But still have winds, very strong gales in the far north of west. Now Monday night this front will continue to move this way to the south east. In the southern areas

The British Isles have variable weather, which may differ from day to day and many storms can pass unnoticed. They regularly experience stormy weather from depressions mainly originating in the Atlantic and move East to the UK due to its location at about 50 degrees north where the Polar Jet Stream will often cross over bringing these unpredictable weather systems. Depressions are areas of low atmospheric pressure which produce cloudy, windy and stormy weather. This essay will be using the largest storms in the last 30 years including The Great Storm, 1987 and the Burns Day Storm, 1990 to relate the impacts which these storms create in social, economic and environmental terms and how the British Isles have responded to such events.…

Five Day Forecast, by Lorna Simpson depicts a composition of five large black and white photographs cut off at the torso of a woman on each day of the workweek. Simpson illustrates a black woman in a plain ill-fitted shift dress. This woman stands facing the camera, arms crossed, accentuating the strength and the muscular build of her arms only to emphasis in on the looseness of the fabric hanging from her upper body. This pose portrays a feeling’s of defense, rebellion and contemplation. When looking at the five photographs in sequence the viewer becomes aware that Simpson illustrates a movement within the photographs. This movement intertwines and connects with each other, illustrating a shift of weight from the right side of the body to the left. Below the photographs of the black woman there is a series of framed black words all staring with the letter M. From left to right they read: ‘Misdescription,’…

Tornado forecasting can date back to 1948 where the first forecast was made by Capt. Robert C. Miller and Maj. Ernest J. Fawbush (Coleman, 567). This forecast was significant because of the Tinker Air Force Base tornadoes. Over a 5-day period in March of 1948, two tornadoes hit the base directly. They were the most destructive tornadoes to hit Oklahoma at that time. These two officers were able to pick up on the meteorological patterns and generate a forecast using a prognostic chart and weather stations. Specifically, they looked at the surface analysis which showed a low-pressure system approaching from the southwest. This forecast gave the base enough time to evacuate to safety and the second tornado did not cause as much damage. Back then…
