Wearing Army Uniform
For regular everyday wear regardless of what uniform a female is in, there are still a few rules that are the same all across. One of them is that females should make sure that their hair is neatly put up without any straggles of hair sticking out. If they have short hair, they must make sure that the bottom part of their hair cannot touch the bottom part of the collar. When using pins and hair bands, or any item that is needed to put a females’ hair in order, you must take in consideration its appearance as well. You must make sure that it is not any other color but black or brown and it does not have any adornments.
Other requirements are that if a female wants to put on make-up, it must be in good taste. In other words, don’t wear fire engine red lipstick or hot pink eye shadow. One of the most important parts of the military uniform, especially for females is the wear of fake nails. It is not only prohibited in AR 670-1, but it is also a risk hazard to patients as we do patient care. In the hospital, our duty uniform is our scrubs. Soldiers may wear a wristwatch, a wrist identification bracelet, and a total of two rings when in uniform. Any jewelry worn must be conservative and in good taste. Only one item may be worn on each wrist. Other than the above jewelry (and some religious exceptions), no other jewelry shall be exposed while wearing the uniform other than a conservative tie tack or tie clasp with the four-in-hand necktie. Females are permitted to wear earrings that conform to the following standards while in uniform. Earrings must be screw-on, clip-on, or post-type earrings in gold, silver, white pearl, or diamond. They must be a quarter of an inch or smaller, unadorned, spherical, and fit snugly against the ear. Earrings can only be worn as a matching pair and only one earring per earlobe. Earrings are not permitted with any class C uniform (such as BDU, hospital duty, food service, physical fitness).

What is so unprofessional about a beard, a Fu Man Chu, or even a goatee? AR 670-1 states that personnel in the Army are only allowed to grow a mustache, to a certain extent. However, there are many styles of facial hair that could be observed as being professional, given that they are allowed to be grown to a certain length, which should be dictated by a revision in the regulation. The idea may come off as preposterous or even demeaning to the outlook of the professionals that stand in our ranks. However, it may be a more appropriate decision than you think.…

Army regulation that governs the soldier’s hair and grooming practices and/or accommodations because of religious practices. The requirement for hair grooming standard is important to maintain uniformity within a soldier population. Many hair styles are acceptable as long as they are very neat and conservative. Soldiers were given exceptions based on religious practices in accordance with Army Regulation 600-20 on and before to 1 January 1986 which still remain in effect as long as the soldiers remain otherwise qualified for retention. It is impossible to address every acceptable or unacceptable haircut, or what is or is not eccentric or conservative grooming of the hair. The leaders at all levels are responsible for exercising good judgment of the Army policies and regulations. Judgment of certain haircuts and or hairstyles is supposed to be determined while the soldier’s headgear is worn.Army Regulation 670-1 covers the wear and appearance of military uniforms. The US Army 670-1 is the basis for the wear and appearance of all military uniforms to include ACU , BDU, DCU, ASU, and all PT uniforms. It was formed so that all soldiers wear the uniform the same to instill discipline and a professional appearance. This regulation applies to officers and enlisted the same. It was formed to give the exact dimensions for badges tabs patches and rank. The proponent of this regulation is the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-1. The proponent has the authority to approve exceptions or waivers to this regulation that are consistent with controlling law and regulations. The proponent may delegate this approval authority, in writing, to a division chief within the proponent agency or its direct reporting unit or field operating agency, in the grade of colonel or the civilian equivalent. Activities may request a waiver to this regulation to this regulation by providing justification that includes a full analysis of the expected benefits and must include formal review by the activity’s senior legal officer. All waiver requests will be endorsed by the commander or senior leader of the requesting activity and forwarded through their higher headquarters to the policy proponent. Refer to AR 25-30 for specific guidance. As stated there in the beginning of the 670-1 there is only a few people that actually have the power to change or alter the uniform. So the big things looked for in uniform discrepancies is lopsided rank or badges, gaps in the badges to the army patch. And all ribbons are in order. We have these rules to keep the public view and the universal view of our army as professional and not a group of missfits. A sense of pride should be in every soldier as to how they where there uniform which today soldiers tend to wear the uniform however they please with no corrections or actions taken by those appointed over them. Now this is not only a problem in leadership but in the individual soldier. Todays army problems are starting from the very…

If we have school uniforms next year, the teacher will have to make some rules for the school uniforms. Schools have rules, and so do the uniforms, but there will be so many rules for us to follow! Girls’ shirts have to be tucked in, or they have to wear a dress as a uniform. Some people don’t like to wear dresses or skirt. Their rules might also say that they have to wear a colorful tie or belt.…

The purpose of Army Regulation 670-1 as stated in chapter 1 paragraph 1-1 is as follows. “This regulation prescribes the authorization for wear, composition, and classification of uniforms, and the occasions for wearing all personal, (clothing bag issue), optional, and commonly worn organizational Army uniforms. It also prescribes the awards, insignia, and accouterments authorized for wear on the uniform, and how these items are worn. General information is also provided on the authorized material, design, and uniform quality control system.” The book answer to the purpose of the regulation only goes so far. If you look further into the regulation it states that the United States Army is a uniformed service that is judged, in part, by the way a soldier wears their uniform. This being said, if a soldier wears their uniform in a manner which is not clean and neat in appearance, and portrays the army poorly, the members of the United States Army would be viewed in a poor and undisciplined manner. Whereas if the members of the United States Army hold themselves to a higher standard, and maintain a neat and clean appearance, the members of the uniformed service will be viewed by the outside world as an organization which personifies what discipline is supposed to be. While we are on the subject of discipline, I think it would be good to explore it and it’s relation to the importance of Army Regulation 670-1. Discipline is one of the cornerstones of the United States Army. Discipline can set you above and beyond everyone else, and it can help you excel in everything you do. What is…
