Wear On Filed PTFE Alloy Bearings Lab Report
Experimental Research of Wear On Filled PTFE Alloy Bearings

ABSTRACT: Because of the lower coefficient of friction and good strength to weight ratio features polymer based composites are frequently used. In this work, experimental investigations were conducted on wear behavior of PTFE composite radial bearings filled with 15% glass fiber (GF15), 40 % bronze (B40) and 35% carbon (C35) where bearing loads, sliding distances and wear were taken into account. For the fact that pivot pins have their own working principle, individual test equipment was designed to research wear behavior of pivot pin bearings. The results achieved from tests are shown graphically and checked against each other. According to the results, it was considered that film

It is revealed in the other studies that the friction coefficient is dependent on the load [13-17.
Dry friction condition could be necessary some application because of contamination and the difficulty of maintenance. This work is mainly focused on the tribological behaviour of reinforced PTFE materials to understand of the mechanisms involved in friction and wear of the polymers in lack of a lubricant [3].
2 EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURES
2.1 Testing set
Test equipment like pin-on-disk, block-on-ring etc. is used generally in tribological studies. Wear act of pivot pin bearings studied in this manuscript cannot be fully investigated in terms of the way it works with this test equipment. For this reason, individual test equipment was designed (Fig.1) to research wear behaviour of pivot pin bearings. 2.2 Tested materials
In this work, tribological effects of loads and sliding distances on wear of filled PTFE bearing have been investigated.
Test materials are produced as follows: the PTFE powder is blended together with filled materials, to obtain an indiscrete status, and then is formed neath load. Hereafter the material be exposed to sintering process. Then left to cool. The samples produced are machined to desired dimensions by CNC lathes. Properties of the specimens used are offered in Table 1.

This is Because CNTs has unique properties such as high aspect ratio, lightweight, high mechanical strength, good thermal and electrical conductivity and excellent tribological behavior [21]. However, the results were not favorable due to the poor compatibility of POM with other materials as a result of high viscosity, especially with bulk materials [22]. Therefore, Yousef et al. (2013) develop a paraffin oil (PO) dispersion technique to obtain a uniform dispersion. The new dispersion technique summarized on adding a small amount of PO (2-3%Wt.) during the mixing process to decrease the viscosity of POM during the injection process then obtain a uniform dispersion of CNTs inside the matrix [23]. Through the new dispersion technique, Yousef et al. (2015) succeed to produce a real CNTs/POM bulk products had a uniform dispersion, in particular, spur, helical, bevel, and worm gears [24]. The results showed that the new dispersion technique has been successfully utilized to increase the wear resistance of POM by adding 0.02 wt. % of POM by 35% when compared by virgin…

First of all, values of deflections (δv, δh) were calculated for various head angles and loads as shown in Table 1-8. These deflection values were plotted against Load and gradients of the graphs of δv/W and δh/W were found out for various angles as shown in Figure 1-8 and stored in table 9. A graph was plotted between δv/W and δh/W which results in a circle. From the circle, values of offset and radius were used to calculate Principal second moments of area and orientation of principal axes.…

The phosphor bronze upper and lower trunnions of the TD and TF are prone to wear, and if they’ve been replaced by steel MGA items they’ll be even more worn. Regular lubrication with a mix of oil and grease will have slowed down the wear rate – but it can’t be eradicated…

    2. A tilting-pad thrust bearing on the 100mm dia shaft of a merchant ship is examined during a shutdown, and all of the pads are found to have wear patterns as shown in the picture. It is known that the assembly has 6 ‘square’ pads (width 72.7mm and inner diameter 115 mm), and is designed to support a load of 90,000 N at 180 rpm. The lubricant is an ISO 46 oil, and the inlet oil temperature is normally 50C. The runner has a ground finish. You are told that misalignment is negligible. The filtration system filters down to 10 microns. What is the likely cause and why? What is the most cost-effective remedy?…

An Amsler universal testing machine with a loading capacity of 300kN was used to load specimens in compression. The test set-up is shown in Fig. 2. Pin ended support conditions using ball bearing supports were used for all the specimens as described by Liu and Hui [7]. Each support consisted of two 10mm parallel plates with 30mm diameter stainless steel ball seated between them on sockets suitably milled into the plates as shown in Fig. 3. The geometric centres of both top and bottom loading plates were marked and aligned with the steel ball and the centre of the loading head. Vertical deformations and mid-height lateral deflections of each specimen were measured using three dial gauges.…

An exactly analysis of the landing gear, as designed on modern aircraft’s, is necessary to understand the construction and systems of the landing gear of the Airbus A320. Operation of the landing gear is made possible through extension/retraction, steering, braking and damping systems. In order to maintain the safety of the aircraft, the design of the landing is satisfied to the legislation of the European Aviation Safety Agency . With the knowledge of the landing gear construction of the Airbus A320, the forces on the construction calculated during different flight phases. In these flight phases the aircraft endures several forces. The materials that are used depends on the forces at the aircraft . Then, with a good insight of the A320’s landing gear I’m able to provide an in detail overview of the common faults and problems of the A320’s landing gear. These faults and problems…

The substitution of the consequence of assumed uniform wear leads to a simple theoretical expression for the torque transmitted by a plate clutch just before slip occurs. It is evident that this must depend on the friction between the plate and the plate it presses on. Hence this experiment uses three different sizes of friction plates to test the theory and assumption.…

In operations where the speed is low, the axial loads are high and the vibrations are not negligible, rolling element bearings are used, typically, needle or tapered bearing. Despite the listed limitations of the hydrodynamic bearings, they seem to perform equally good in terms of efficiency and energy losses as the anti- friction bearings. Given bellow is a summary from a previous study made by Siemens for SKF bearings, tested with exactly the same specifications.…
