We Bought a Zoo’s Kelly Foster In the touching movie, which Matt Damon starred in, We Bought a Zoo, directed by Cameron Crowe, Kelly Foster, the zookeeper, keeps her life busy in work so she doesn’t have to deal with her problems in life. First of all, Kelly is a divorced workaholic who would rather work than go out and have fun. Kelly “never goes out”(Crowe, xx) and stays at the zoo “every day”(Crowe, xx). While her friends go out on dates, Kelly devotes her life to the zoo and likes to being there and spending time with the animals instead of living her life. She feels distressed because she‘s twenty-eight, single and has to move back with her mother. Moreover, Kelly is worried about the future of the zoo when suddenly a city guy named Benjamin

She concerns with, “ No one gets paid, Ben…jamin. We need somebody who can really take charge of this place, or else we and all these animals are gone.” (Crowe, xx) Kelly feels that the zoo might be in trouble. Since the staff of the zoo has lessen, Kelly was worried about if they don’t get a person who can really fulfill their needs, the zoo would be gone, but fortunateley, Benjamin has fixed that problem and has helped them reach their needs. Kelly connects with the animals best and knows how they feel. She can tell what their emotions are. An example is when Spar, the tiger was on a tall rock in his enclosure and he wouldn’t come down, Kelly says, “Can’t you see he’s eyes? He’s suffering, man. He’s in a lot of pain. I can’t stand to watch it.
