Ways to Be Charitable
There are two kinds of people in this world: the givers and the takers. Some people were born lacking confidence to do anything, so they rely on others most of the time. Some, on the other hand, take charge and chances. These types of people are willing to do anything to make the world a better place. Most of them gave up their time doing charity work, providing services for others, and wanting nothing back in return. There are many ways in helping others which can be classified into three fields of charity work: donation, volunteering, and giving advice. The first way to be charitable is to donate. Donation is an act of presenting something as a gift, grant, or contribution (Donation, 2013). There are many types of donation which are donating money, goods, blood, and organs. People usually donate money to help the ones in need. Donating money is easy because nowadays we can donate by transferring money online or even through cell phones. Some people donate money to organizations or charities that will help people in need. People also donate money to help build temples or to help public hospitals buy expensive medical machines to help the sick. Donating used goods is another common type of donation. People donate used clothes and household items to help victims during disasters. There are a lot of people who don’t have enough clothes and items during Tsunami. People also donate used toys and clothes to the orphanage. Blood donation is also a common type of donation. People who donate blood improve and save the lives of many patients. Donating blood gives a feeling of saving someone’s life. An hour of a person’s time donating blood can save another person’s life (Poliseo, 2010). Blood donations do not have any side effects. Blood donations benefit the donors by allowing them to have the basic blood test, burning calories, and reducing the chance of heart disease.
