1. Science and Technology has two sides, theory and practice. Which is more important: theory, practice or combination of both?

For me, combination of both practice and theory is more important in Science and technology because like in the "War of Currents" when Thomas Edison dismissed the idea of Nikola Tesla using the alternating-current power transmission and later on Thomas Edison cane to regret that he had not listened to Nikola Tesla about it. This shows that practice maybe have a good point in Science but theories could help things out so things would be easier and discover new things that is better than what is practiced.

2. Let's say there is something that you passionately believe in. It may be a new invention, a new theory or anything obtained through scientific method. Then a competitor came along and offered an altternative, which is (apparently) superior to your idea. Which of the following is the best course of action:
a. Investigate the weaknesses of the competitor and emphasize them in a grand campaign.
b. Investigate the competitor's idea and your own ida for both strength and weaknesses. See if there is a way to improve your idea.
c. Use rhetoric to promote your idea and destroy the other.
d. None of the above. If this is the case, specify what will be your actions.

I would choose the 3rd option “Use rhetoric to promote your idea and destroy the other” like what Thomas Edison did. He carried out a campaign to discourage the use of alternating current and spreading disinformation on fatal AC accidents and other negative stuffs for using AC. It maybe not a good

Initially, each key member’s workload was set at a max unit of 100% for every task assigned including the recurring tasks (see Appendix D). An example of this was the construction site manager, which was set at 100% for all tasks, the same as the laborers, which would be acceptable if there were no overlapping in activities. But there were several overlapping activities along with the recurring tasks. Through careful examination of each resource and task, TPC was able to reduce each member’s task time (max units) to a more realistic level which resolved the overallocated resources (see Appendix E). Task coverage was not degraded by the reduction of max…

In the essay “ Expertise Dissected,” Daniel J. Levitin believes that barely anyone can become an expert in their area without continuos practice. Moreover, he mentions that although talent is a major factor that people acquire skills more rapidly than others, with only talent, one cannot achieve success in that area. Finally, Levitin emphasizes that practice is the most essential factor leading to a significant achievement. From my point of view, I totally agree with Levitins’ opinions. Based on my life experience and the book I read, I think his points are totally correct. All in all, practice is the most important foundation for success.…
