FACTS: Donnie McGraw signed a lease with Brown Realty Company located at 7307 South Westmorland Road, Dallas, Texas where he would be running a restaurant. On December 24, 2003 when McGraw signed the contract he agreed that the lease would be from February 15, 2004 through February 14, 2009 where he would be paying $3,450 a month a totaling $207, 000 at the end. On March 3, 2004 McGraw sent Gary Brown, the president of Brown Realty Company, a letter informing him of some equipment in need of repair in addition he sent him a second letter on October 5, 2004 complaining that the roof of the building was leaking, there was never a respond from Brown Realty. Documentation showed that McGraw made his rent payment on time from March through October of 2004; however in November rent payment was returned for insufficient funds which he then abandoned the premises in December.…

Well, if I was in charge of the project in the city of Ridleyville. I would build a business complex upward to save pace and also build a small size park on the riverfront. However, the reason I choose this decision is because businesses brings other business which will help the economy grow. Also, increase the amount of parkland and open space in the city, especially in the downtown riverfront area. For the city to stay economically sustainable, you need jobs. Also, with the base being close down, that will decrease the job rate in Ridleyville. So the city will have to put something in that area to fill that gap. However, making this decision will help address the growing budget deficit. By building a business complex would lower unemployment rates and increased economic growth reduce the need for government-funded programs such as unemployment insurance and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF).If the city can get the small portion of open space through tax incentives, they can build a park on the open space.…

George Foster had been a Navy pilot in the Second World War. While carrying out an attack on a Japanese carrier fleet in the Battle of Midway, his radioman was wounded by gunfire from the ships below. George was faced with the choice to land and save his friend, or continue attacking the Japanese fleet. He chose to stay with the planned attack, and shortly after was shot down above the ocean. George had enough luck to eject from the airplane, but was forced to watch his plane crash into the water while still containing his wounded friend. After hiding under his seat cushion to avoid detection by the Japanese, George inflated his life raft once he thought the sky was dark enough to do so. George spent over 30 hours in the water before being spotted and rescued by an American ship passing through the area. A Virginia man, James Hobgood, cyberstalked an Arkansas woman after the woman broke off a brief romantic relationship. He stalked her through email, Facebook messages, and text messages demanding that the woman apologize for the breakup (Baker, 2017). At this point, the woman could have gone to law enforcement if she had the proper documentation to stop any future harassment, and she could have blocked the stalker from email, Facebook, and text messages. After Hobgood could not get the woman to communicate with him, he created social media accounts that stated the victim was an escort and an exotic dancer. Antwone Fisher is a 25 year old African American male, who was born in Cleveland. He is currently in the navy, but seems to have anger problems. He got upset when one of the other guys from the navy called him a racial word, so that altercated into a fight between them. He seems to try to fix all his problems with fighting and I can tell that he has a lot of anger and resentment inside him. He is not very sociable and not very easy to talk to. When asked questions he is very short on his answers and does not seem to like to talk about his problems. To get him to open up he was told to come in for psychiatric sessions every week until he can start talking about his problems. Finally he starts opening up about his child hood, and automatically I can tell it is a very hurtful and sensitive topic for him. From what I can tell he had a rough childhood, but that did not stop him from becoming a better person and man. My field study was conducted at the Talented and Gifted School for Young Scholars (T.A.G.) Middle School located in the East Harlem section of Manhattan. T.A.G. is a selective public school, governed by the NYC Department of Education. It was founded in 1989 as a magnet program within the school system’s District 4, and became an independent K-8 gifted and talented school in 2004. T.A.G. is one of only three gifted and talented programs in New York City. It serves students identified with gifted abilities in grades K-8. Children are admitted to kindergarten through 2nd grade based on their scores on two tests, the Otis-Lennon School Abilities Test (OLSAT) and the Bracken School Readiness Assessment (BSRA). Children whose scores put them in the 97th percentile nationally are eligible. There are a handful of seats open in the upper grades. Middle school admission is based on grades, standardized test scores and teacher recommendations. There are approximately 500 students comprised mainly of African-American, Hispanic, and Middle Eastern backgrounds, reportedly only 2% of the student body is Caucasian. Novel vs. Romance: A novel is concerned with characters and events. It may contain symbols, but these are of secondary concern. A romance, on the other hand, may have events and characters, but the real focus is on the ideas and the symbolism that shape the book. These are inextricable from the story itself. The characters and events in a romance are only there to get across these larger ideas and the symbolism—and usually these are intended to lead the reader to some “higher truth.” In The Scarlet Letter, which is a romance, you should be looking for the multiplicity of meanings awarded to symbols. Don’t expect them to be static. For Hawthorne, nothing is ever simple or clear-cut. Meaning shifts. Be prepared to follow and understand these shifts. The most obvious example is the symbolic scarlet letter itself. Track what it stands for throughout the book.…
