Introduction

Volleyball is a popular sport, which is played both indoors and outdoors. It appeals to people of all ages and skill levels. It is fast paced, with constant jumping and running, and thus provides a strenuous aerobic workout. It also requires mental alertness and quick, precise physical reactions.

History of Volleyball

Volleyball originated in Massachusetts in 1895 when the director of a local YMCA used the bladder of a basketball for a ball and a tennis net as the first volleyball net. The game was regulated by the YMCA until 1928 when the United States Volleyball Association was founded

How Volleyball is played

The name "volleyball" is not an entirely accurate description of this sport. The object of the game is to hit the ball over the net in such a way that the opposing team cannot return it.

Volleyball is played on a court 30 ft. wide by 60 ft. long. The net is 3 ft. high and spans the width of the playing area. The top of the net is positioned 8 ft. (men's) from the floor or playing surface. The modern volleyball is about the size of a soccer ball.

The game is played by two opposing teams, with six players on each team. Once the ball is put into play, it is "volleyed" back and forth between the teammates up to three times before it is hit over the net or until it falls on the floor, is hit out of bounds or a team commits a foul. The same

I signed up for volleyball. I have only had two practices. Hitherto, I acquired the skills of passing the ball, serve overhand, and set the ball. I failed to attend the first practice. As a result, I do not know how to properly serve underhand. Practice is every Friday night from six “o” clock to six forty-five at Anderson Farm Park. Moreover drills, we play games. One game I relish is where a person serves the ball to the other side of the net and tries to hit someone. If they are not successful, they have to sit were the ball landed. If they do strike someone, they earn a point. Volleyball is an enjoyable experience.…

There are many great coaches in this world but one of the best that I have ever met would be my colleague from work. His name is Jordan Vela and he coaches a volleyball team of guys and girls also from my work, Outback Steakhouse in Springhurst. When we think of volleyball we think that it is a woman’s sport and that it is the easiest sport to play. It actually is harder than it seems according to him. At first I didn’t believe him but then he showed me some photos and videos and I saw how hard it really is.…

Imagine you are in a dark, deserted, brick alleyway. A night owl hoots in the distance. Your phone just died and you are ten miles away from home. You are bored out of your mind because you cannot think of anything to do. Zing! A motorcycle coughing black smoke streaks by, but does not notice you. No one is walking by because the dingy, damp alleyway you are stranded in is not a place anyone wants to be. It is so quiet you could hear a pin drop. If you have a ball, you could play volleyball with the wall, but only if you know how. In this situation, you would wish with all your heart that you knew how to play volleyball. You can learn how by using my challenging, but accurate process to bump, underhand serve, and…

Although volleyball may seem like the same sport whether it’s played on an indoor volleyball court or an outdoor sand volleyball court, there is actually a big difference between the two. Some people prefer sand volleyball over court volleyball, but I prefer court volleyball. Both courts are the same size (18m x 9m (29'6" x 59')). When it comes to having all of the positions covered, court volleyball is superior; with six people on the court, it is much easier to defend the entire area.…

Diving on the ground to get the ball up, setting the ball outside, and having your hitter slam the ball into the opponents side of the court. That is what volleyball is all about and why I have such a love for the game. I am here to tell you about why this sport is so important to me and also why it plays a very big role in my life. For me when I play it’s about being a team, going out there and showing yourself and the crowd that you know what you’re doing. In the time you are on that court you leave everything behind you and focus on one thing: playing your game no matter the outcome and leaving everything on the floor.…

If you have ever played volleyball you would know that there is that drive and willingness to win. Volleyball is a very trusting sport, one person could throw off the entire team and cost you the game. I have played volleyball for many years and can say that you need three things to be a good player. One; you have to have a good attitude, even if you are just playing for fun the key is to have good sportsmanship. No one hates a player more when they are afraid to go after a ball or make mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes,…

Basketball is a sport played by two teams of five players on a rectangular court. The objective is to shoot a ball through a hoop 18 inches in diameter and 10 feet high mounted to a backboard at each end. A team can score a field goal by shooting the ball through the basket during regular play. A field goal scores two points for the shooting team if a player is touching or closer to the basket than the three-point line, and three points if the player is behind the three-point line. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins, but additional time may be issued when the game ends with a draw.…
