Make a hypothesis about how you think the two species of Paramecium will grow alone and how they will grow when they are grown together.

When 2 species of paramecium are separated both will survive, however when the 2 species are together only one will survive.

Explain how you tested your hypothesis.

I tested my hypothesis by putting the P. Aurelia and P. Caudatum each in 2 different test tubes, and then I combine them together in 1 test tube. After that I analyze how each of the species survive.

On what day did the Paramecium caudatum population reach the carrying capacity of the environment when it was grown alone? How do you know?

P. Caudatum population reach the carrying capacity of the environment when it was grown alone on day 8, because after day 8 the same number of P. Caudatum population was repeated.

On what day did the Paramecium aurelia population reach the carrying capacity of the environment? How do you know?

P. Aurelia population reach the carrying capacity of the environment when it was grown alone on day 8, after day 8 the same number of P. Aurelia was repeated. However, in the last day, which is day 16, the number of P. Aurelia population decreases, and become 48.

Explain the differences in the population growth patterns of the two Paramecium species. What does this tell you about how Paramecium aurelia uses available resources?

This tells me that with P. Aurelia they more species than P. Caudatum and that is because they used smaller amount of resources, while with P. Caudatum they have smaller amount of species than P. Aurelia because they use larger amount of available resources.
