Virgil Monologue

Late this afternoon a young boy named Vigil came to our pigsty apartment to play with my confident little brother, Thomas. He was talking on and on about this garden that was in the dirty lot a block away. I wasn’t paying much attention but I have never seen a vegetable garden let alone grown anything. Then he brought up the idea of taking us there to show us his father's lettuce patch. I asked miss Delilah if we could go with the young boy and she seemed very pleased and answered with a yes. Virgil was a very, what's the word, relaxed, take it easy kind of kid, but I can’t complain because this is the first kid that has step foot in our apartment. When we arrived I saw a big patch of what looked like lettuce and a man crouched down watering it carefully. I was amused to see how many people were in the lot, not too long ago it was filled with so much trash, that people on the tenth floor could see the trash. Then jogged over to his father and hugged him.

“This place used to be a landfill, but ever since a little miracle happened this area has been nothing but excitement.” The man nodded and she went on, “Oh yeah.Hi my name is Nora, this is Mr. Myles, we have our own garden over there full of veggies but we sometimes just like to stroll on by.” she said.
Later that night when miss Delilah, Thomas, and I were eating dinner at the coffee table in the living room when Thomas started to talk. “Miss Delilah can we grow our own veggies in the garden down the street,” he said with pause. “We could grow green beans, or tomatoes, or even watermelons.”
I wasn’t too surprised by this, but when miss Delilah said yes then I was surprised. Miss delilah had barely any money for dinner let alone us, we still don’t know how we ended up living with her. She is always a generous lady when it comes to us. I didn’t join the conversation I just felt like
