Violence In The Tell Tale Heart Research Paper
Violence can be defined as behavior involving physical force intended to hurt, damage, or kill someone or something. Violence is not just a thing that hurts people physically, it can hurt people mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. To define mental illness as an illness refers to a wide range of mental health conditions — disorders that affect your mood, thinking, and behavior. All of these can cause someone or something to be very violent. For example, the narrator and antagonist of this story “Tell-Tale Heart” has a very severe case of mental illness which causes him to be violent “I knew that sound well, too. It was the beating of the old man's heart. It increased my fury, as the beating of a drum stimulates the soldier into courage” the old man was cut up into pieces and was very dead (Poe, 66). In addition, the narrator of the story still heard the sound of the old man’s heartbeat which caused him to terminate the old man “With a loud yell, I threw open the lantern and leaped into the room.
