97% of todays teenagers often spend a great deal of time playing video games. These games are fun and engaging and young people often feel like playing games is a great thing to do in their spare time. Spending too much time playing video games can keep teens and young adults from being sociable and keeps them from studying. Gaming then becomes an unhealthy way of using spare time. Teens and young adults that play video games too much are lacking good social skills. Teenagers may argue that because they play their games online with friends, they are socializing in their own way. However, it is not the same as face to face interaction. To develop good social skills is a crucial part of getting a job and making a good impression. This should not be difficult. Besides, hanging out with friends is far more fun than sitting indoors playing video games all day anyway. Getting a good education is that best thing that anyone can do for their future. If every teenager cut down on their gaming time by one to two hours per day and used this time to study, they would achieve better results and be more likely to have the career that they want. That two hours does not have to be all together it can be split up throughout the day. With education, to excel at the rate desired for the career choice all depends on the work put out for the outcome to be what is wanted. Teens and young adults that spend a long time on computers and gaming consoles are often not getting enough exercise. With high obesity rates, it’s very important for young people to spend as much time being active as possible. Studies show that people who are overweight during childhood and adolescence are far more likely to become overweight adults than those who are a healthy weight when they are young. There is just as much, if not more, fun to be had in getting out and about and being active. This does not have to mean going for long runs; team sports are both fun and great exercise. Dance or fitness classes are also a good option for those not into sports. Social skills, studies, and physical & mental health are all compromised by gaming to much in teen and young adults. There can be no doubt that spending too much time gaming isn’t good for you. You don’t have to stop all together, but it’s all about moderation. Cut down and allocate your additional free time to doing things that are good for you, and you definitely won’t regret it in later life.

    The purpose of this study emphasizes on both, the positive and the negative impacts of playing video games on the teenagers. Over the last 30 years video games have made an impact on the way teenagers spend their leisure time. This research hypothesizes that social interaction, psychological, in particular aggressive behavior, health and academic performance is greatly affected by the extensive use of video gaming. The research proposal is further supported by the literature review of various articles including an article by Brandon T, which states that video games influence the beliefs and self esteem of children.
