An average day for Veterinarians includes many challenging tasks that involve both animals and the animal’s owner. “Veterinarians work around forty-five to fifty hours in a week not counting being on call” (Orray 1). To start of the day, veterinarians begin by assessing any hospitalized patients.Throughout the day veterinarians typically treat and dress wounds for animals along with vaccinating them for diseases (“Veterinarians” 2). A common task for veterinarians is performing surgery on animals in need of being spayed or delivering babies. Aside from your typical veterinarian, Research Veterinarians investigate problems and create strategies for new technology involving animal treatment. “Some veterinarians even collaborate with other physicians and public health agencies to help prevent animal-spread diseases” (“So, you” 8). These diseases include malaria, Ebola, and avian influenza. According to many professionals in the field of Veterinary Medicine, the hardest task they will ever have to perform is euthanizing animals when needed (“Veterinarians” 2). This is especially heart breaking when the animal is put down due to financial reasons. In normal cases, euthanizing an animal includes giving the animal a shot of pentobarbital which is commonly used for seizures. This not only takes an emotional toll on the owner, but it is…
