Throughout the United States, infant vaccination continues to be a highly controversial and pressured decision that parents must face upon their child’s birth. In order to maintain complete objectivity, multiple viewpoints must be critically analyzed and explored in an unbiased manner; therefore, I will examine the positives and negatives regarding adolescent vaccinations, provide general viewpoints and solutions to the debate about which infants should receive vaccinations, and supply the data required to support the arguments relevant to each side. The first viewpoint suggests that infant vaccinations should be heavily regulated due to alleged medical ramifications and adverse side effects. Many Americans support this ideology, including parents and various physicians who firmly believe that infant vaccinations induce medical complications instead of preventing them. The second viewpoint is known as selective vaccination, which is a supported by most American parents and various doctors, who affirm that parents deserve the right of authority over their child because the child’s best interest trumps obligatory immunization. The third viewpoint suggests that some U.S. parents and medical professionals advocate mandatory vaccination in order to protect infants from illnesses; thus, ultimately striving for widespread public health.…
Did you know that some childhood diseases, such as polio, whooping cough, and especially the measles, have nearly been eliminated in the United States due to the implementation of vaccination (“Lode Tot, Other Cases Prompt Call for Vaccinations” 1)? Unfortunately, these diseases and others like them are now making a comeback thanks to parents who are reluctant to have their children vaccinated. I believe children should be vaccinated because vaccination protects them against sickness, reduces the spread of common ailments, and can protect individuals who cannot be vaccinated.…
People’s choices are now affecting the lives of others. The spread of diseases, has become a problem. The diseases are able to protected with vaccinations. They are coming back into society during small outbreaks. There was an outbreak in 2014 in the state of California. While everyone has a right to make their own choices, your choices can affect the to the lives of others. At this point, they are no longer just individual choices. My 5 year old child has all her vaccinations. But there is no guarantee that they will be effective. As a child, they had me vaccinated for pertussis. I contracted it despite having been vaccinated for it. It is terrifying my child could contract something deadly. All because of the ill-informed choices of others. Vaccinations, like it or not, are not a choice. They should be mandatory to protect the lives of all…
many parents today are delaying or refusing vaccines for their children. These parents have different controversies, such as negative side effects, learning disabilities, religious reasons, and forcing parents to vaccinate as well as other opinions. I believe it is important for children to receive vaccines. There are three main reasons why children should get vaccinated. The number one reason is that research shows that vaccinations are generally safe…
To sum up from the informative , there are many reasons why in U.S. parents choose not to vaccinate their children including some disbelieve the doctor , decision and involvement of family. But , to vaccinate is a good choice for children to protect them from the illness. However, if the children are healthy enough they don't have to get vaccine…
Vaccinations should be required by law due to the importance that diseases spread at a very high rate and could potentially be deadly depending on age of the inhabitant and the type of disease. Through vaccinations, America could prevent these outbursts by requiring that every citizen get vaccinations to help stop diseases from running wild. The fact that vaccinations help protect children and the children of the future is just one of the many justifications for this law.…
Is it a good idea to vaccinate children? Whether for religious or personal reasons some parents choose not to vaccinate their children. Although there are no current laws about vaccinations, according to “Risk Factors Associated With Parents Claiming Personal-belief Exemptions to School Immunization Requirements: Community and Other Influences on More Skeptical Parents in Oregon, 2006,” “48 states allow exemptions to immunizations for medical, religious, or philosophical reasons, but legal definitions and enforcement differ.” The effects of failing to vaccinate children can compromise the child's immune system, put those around the child and their doctors at risk, and can led to reviving diseases.…
For my essay, I am going to discuss the benefits of mandatory immunizations as well as the guidelines to be followed for all children. I will get to use reasons and facts as well as using a simple to complex approach. The benefits of vaccinations outweigh the risks of not getting the vaccinations. Some disease that can be contracted from not being vaccinated can become deadly. In addition, studies have shown there has been a lower rate of disease outbreaks from children that were properly immunized as well as adults that had received all their vaccinations as a younger child.…
Should childhood vaccination be mandatory? Vaccination protects your child from preventable diseases and will keep your child healthy. In this day and time, there are many diseases that are preventable with a safe and effective vaccine that has been FDA approved. In any vaccination there are some risks you are taking because some children have reactions to the vaccine. Many parents do not realize the effects of not vaccinating their child. This can cause serious risks and even put the child’s life in jeopardy. When a person chooses not to vaccinate a child, this can cause effects on their immune system and even long term issues.…
Parents do have the freedom of choice, in many cases, to decline vaccinations for their children. Also some children cannot get the vaccines because of medical conditions such as leukemia or other childhood cancers. Because of mass vaccination there has been a steep decline in these diseases. A large number of developed countries experience this which is called “herd immunity.” People who have not or could not get vaccinated are protectioned slightly based on the idea that marjority of children and adults they encounter are vaccinated . Immunization has minimized the threat of outbreak and exposure to communicable diseases . Coincidentally many believe the vaccinated are protecting the unvaccinated. This is one of the many reasons we should encourage parents to vaccinate. This can help protect the children who are too ill or unable to be vaccinated. The increases in denial to vaccinate can destroy the system of “herd immunity” and cause outbreaks of vaccine preventable…
Another complaint from those who oppose government required vaccinations is the belief that vaccines are more dangerous than the diseases/side effects they prevent, and that vaccinations are ineffective. The American Academy of Pediatrics, as well as other organizations claim that immunizations can cause “seizures, progressive encephalopathy, and death” (“Should” 7). Skeptics believe that these rare side effects are worth risking communal, and individual health. They want to put themselves and their worries of side effects before the greater good of others. Other opponents also support the claims that vaccinations are not effective, that outbreaks can still occur, even when most of the population is fully vaccinated. The American Medical…
In closing, every parent should vaccinate their child. There are a multitude of reasons why this should be done and plenty of research that supports vaccinations as well. Studies have proven the benefits of vaccinations far outweigh the risks. To keep children healthy and prevent unnecessary illness’s and death. For these…
State governments are the ones who determine which vaccinations are mandatory for school attendance. The federal government plays a key role in vaccination as well. The federal government regulates the safety and effectiveness of all vaccines by testing them. A new vaccine must first be tested on animals then it must be filed s a New Drug Application (Balding 103-110).…
I believe that everyone should be up to date on vaccinations. One reason I believe everyone should be vaccinated is because others do not get sick. Another reason is that the person who is not vaccinated doesn’t get sick and having to go to the hospital. One more reason why people should be vaccinated is because they should be able to go to school and not be kicked out because they don’t have their vaccines.…
In 2003 there were two million deaths in children that were prevented because of immunization. This is a huge number; these lives were saved by vaccines. Children who are young and whose immune systems are not fully developed can die of illnesses that we as adults think are routine or not life threatening. What we do know is that if children are not immunized, illnesses like polio, measles, rubella, meningitis, and tetanus to name a few, will indeed return, with the cost being lives. There are also many social and economic risks associated with not immunizing children. It’s not only for their safety but for the safety of those around them. Recently parents have stopped immunizing children because of study that say the vaccines “might” cause autism. Most of these studies have been proven wrong or inconclusive. The safety and benefits of vaccinating children still by far outweigh any adverse effects they might have. This is why all children should be immunized.…
