Vaccination Informative Speech
I am writing to you today to inform you about a matter I feel very strongly about – the importance of vaccinating children, teens, and adults in order to reduce their risk of contracting certain communicable diseases. We don’t often see it this way, but we are a very privileged country. The USA is fortunate enough to be a country that is rich in medical supplies. The other, not-so-developed countries, however, aren’t so fortunate. Diseases such as polio, hepatitis B, and measles devastate many populations around the world to this day. Not being properly vaccinated can have a pretty awful impact on your overall health. You’re more prone to disease and infections, and this can lead you to fall terribly ill. You may be the healthiest person alive – you may exercise regularly and eat healthy – but if you’re not vaccinated, there’s nothing protecting you from catching a disease. For example, you may go on a plane one day and there may be a man sitting in front of you who has an infectious disease. The people in the plane that were vaccinated are most likely to be protected from this disease (it’s almost like an invisible shield against the disease), and are far less vulnerable to it than the people who aren’t vaccinated. Children are also very prone to catching a disease – which is why they need to be vaccinated on a regular basis. A school environment can be one of the most dangerous environments when it comes to communicable diseases – children are constantly sick, and are constantly spreading that sickness to their peers.
