Using Computer in Researching Makes the Students Lazy
Introduction Since the invention of computer and other technologies, lives of many people especially the students had the major impact. Computer made it easier for students to study. Internet is one of the major innovations in the computer system, and it is widely used all over the world. An information service like one of the uses of the internet is very dependable nowadays. On of the things it serves are the search engines. Search engines are like building a digital library for the future. It is an effective tool for students, business people and other professionals for research. But some of the information stored is not so reliable. Since the web or internet is an openly democratic information resource, some researchers may be misled because the information is not reliable and somewhat fictional. (Lehnert, 1998) The use of internet is now used in many areas today. Every person no matter what the profession is needs an information service, students, employees and other people needs an information service. Students use the internet as their resort in researching. Instead of going to the library at school, or other public libraries, they go to computer shops. And according to Wendy G. Lehnert, “… searching the web is anonymous with using a search engine. If you ever used an on-line card catalog to locate a book in a library, you have some idea of what to expect from search engines.” Since, going to the library and searching from it is a big hassle, students prefer the internet. The internet has influenced many people, and big percent of the user are students, especially during researching. Why do students choose the internet over library? Do these students read what is written on the internet? Do the students really understand what is on the internet? How can we stop laziness in researching? These are the questions that will be answered in this paper. I. Definition of Technology The branch of knowledge that deals with the creation and use of technical means

When the Internet was first introduced to the public, it marked an extraordinary change in every aspect of our lives. Today, with the explosive increase of sites on the Internet, technology has taken another dramatic rise. In the midst of this technological explosion, we might stop and ask some key questions. Is the Internet good or bad for education? Are students learning more or less? And what, exactly, are they learning? Although, using the Internet to research instead of encyclopaedias has become a reality for most high school students, the idea of the Internet being is a place where everyone can easily access reliable information is only a myth. We often make a great mistake by calling the Internet something along the lines of "best source of information", when, really, it is nothing but an unreliable, and bias source of information that develops bad habits in us.…

Abstract: Given that the Internet is an engineered system like any other, why should we distinguish "Internet research" from any other study of technology? One answer is that computers are distinctive in their direct and systematic relationship to language. Another is that the Internet, through its layered architecture, is highly appropriable. Even so, the Internet does not cause a revolution or define a wholly separate "cyber" sphere. Instead, due to its distinctive qualities, it participates in somewhat distinctive ways in the ongoing political life of institutions.…

It is consider to be one of the most important inventions in modern time. Leah Graham and Panagiotis Metaxas say in their article that ”many students have difficulty recognizing trustworthy sources, though perhaps the underlying problem is a lack of understanding of the Internet as an unmonitored source of information”(Graham & Metaxas, 2003). So, students need to learn and gain the skill of critical thinking as an essential skill for using the internet as source of information. In the past, when students wanted to do a research they went to the library to find a book that will give them the information they wanted. Overall, books are more trusted sources of information than the Internet, as the books had published by a qualified publisher and had written by a qualified person. But now, books are rarely being used as sources of information, instead, the internet or the web became the main source of information, whether for student or for the general population. Here, the importance of critical thinking become clear to…
