Residents’ & family alike are dependent on us to immediately recognise any sign & symptoms of any type of illness. They will be able to recognise an illness if we will be able to give them signs or symptoms of the residents as we are the one who should know them best. For this same reason the device may not work well with noisy background as obviously it will only result to more confusion to the receiver. Members of staff are to ensure that the device is in good working condition i.e. a working battery in place & it at its correct setting. Text phones, relay systems & minicoms have a small screen & keyboard to enable messages to be typed. The Royal National Institute for Deaf People (RNID) operates a text relay service, whereby an operator can enable conversations between speech phones used by hearing people and text phones used by people who may be hard of hearing. A person can text their message to the operator who will then read it to the hearing person & vice versa. Loop systems enables people who uses hearing aid to hear sounds more clearly. People with appropriate hearing aid can switch their hearing aid to a certain setting to enable them to hear the amplified signal from the loop. Voice activated software these software enables a person to use speech commands to get their computer perform a variety of task.
