USABILITY TEST REPORT
SCENARIO 1: THE LIBRARY

ANI CHIDIEBERE GEORGE (5747340)
M23CDE: USABILITY

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
An onsite usability test was conducted on the library website in
Birmingham on 5th November, 2014. The purpose of the test was to determine how efficient, effective and satisfying the site would be to potential users.
Three participants were used to conduct the test, each of them performing four tasks. The testing materials included a laptop with a screen and audio recorder software installed in it. Each participant session lasted approximately thirty (30) minute. In general all participants found the library website (locate.co.uk) not easy to use as participants were not able to perform all tasks. Some of the problems identified includes;
 Lack of a separate search box category for Books, Journals and Media on the home page
 Lack of visibility of links at the footer of the home page (“library room bookings” and “opening hours” link)
 Lack of a “Home” link on the website
 Lack of a search box to search the website for information and other services the library provides.
 Lack of consistency as all hyperlinks were not clickable

Participant feedback, test result, responses to post session questionnaire and also recommendation are also included in this report.

    Improving productivity, increasing output for the same inputs, has been a longstanding concern of the UK Construction Industry. The different approaches to improving productivity will be briefly reviewed as will the decline in awareness of classical work study and use by construction firms. Suggestions are made for an expansion of the role of the Architectural Technologist.…
