Urshan College Fluctuation Analysis
Throughout the realm of Christian academic institutions, there has been a constant fluctuation in retention and withdrawal rates. In particular, Urshan College has noticed a seemingly greater withdrawal percentage in recent years. Although staff, faculty, and board members have worked to resolve this issue, it still remains. Due to various situations, many students have continued to withdraw from the school and go on to leave the church entirely. There have been various issues, ideas, and philosophies of what the causing factors may be. In the particular circumstance of Urshan College and other Christian college communities, a decline in retention rates may be linked to a lack of balance in academic, social, and spiritual aspects within a student's life.
Spiritual:
When most students make the decision to attend Urshan College, it is because they are following a God-given calling on their lives -- at some point a word was spoken, and a burden was developed in them that has driven them to seek after a Biblical education to further their callings. When new students arrive on the Urshan campus, they are quickly incorporated into a routine of Biblical classes and mandatory church attendance. It goes without saying that these relationships have a large affect on a student’s time management, financial management, academic abilities, and spiritual priorities. Unfortunately, at institutes such as Urshan College, or other Christian college atmospheres, attending college is often compared to the idea a summer church camp. Students entering a college environment with an incorrect understanding or inability to manage their social life could lead to increased withdrawal
