Uranus is the 7th planet from the sun
The average distance from Uranus to the sun is 2,877,000,000 km. It takes 84.02 Earth years for Uranus to Orbit around the sun. Each Uranus day is equal to 17.24 Earth hours. Uranus is a greenish blue planet, it rotational axis different from all other planets as it rotates on its side, like a ball.

Uranus is 50,724 km in diameter and it is the third largest planet. There are 27 known moons orbiting Uranus, they are named after Shakespearean characters, and also a few characters from Alexander Pope’s novels. The largest moons are Oberon and Titania. Oberon is ancient, has many craters and no signs of activity underneath the surface. There are 13 known rings around Uranus. From closest to farthest away from Uranus, the rings are 1986U2R(Zeta), 6, 5, 4, Alpha, Beta, Eta, Gamma, Delta, Lambda, Epsilon, Nu and Mu. the observers in the Kuiper Airborne Observatory and the Pert Observatory discovered Uranus’s rings on accident in 1977.

Uranus is a gas giant. Gravity on Uranus is only 91% the gravity on earth. A 100 lb person would weigh 91 pounds on Uranus. Uranus’s atmospheric composition is 83% hydrogen, 15% helium, and 2% methane.
The average surface temperature of Uranus is -350° this is VERY cold compared to Earth.

William Herschel discovered the planet Uranus on March 13, 1781; it was the first planet found using a telescope. 1690 was the first recorded sighting of Uranus, but it was categorized as a star. Uranus was first named “The Georgium Sidus” after King George III of England, later it was renamed Uranus to conform with the other planets names that derived from Greek Mythology.

    The Kuiper Belt is named after Gerald Kuiper, an American scientist with a special interest in astronomy. He wrote a paper in 1951 that mentioned objects out beyond Pluto. He predicted that there must be a cloud of dust and debris out past the main area of the solar system, i.e. out past Pluto (Jewitt "The Kuiper Belt"). His hypothesis was reinforced in the 1980s by computer simulations. The simulations predicted that a belt of debris would naturally form around the edge of the solar system. There is some dispute as to who really predicted the Kuiper belt first. Kenneth Edgeworth wrote a paper in 1943 and then another 1949 in which he seemed to indirectly predict the belt. Kuiper did not cite any of his work. This will be a never-ending dispute (Stern 52).
