Unprofessional Narrative
"I’m still on my break," I explain to Doris, "and it won’t let me clock in for another minute" and there were things like “take a chill pill, I'm still on break” that I would’ve liked to say , but I didn’t because I didn’t want to be “unprofessional”.
Doris sighed and said, “Well okay, but I need you out there as soon as you clock back in.”
I told her, “Yes, Doris. I’m gonna go out there when I get back from break.” I clocked in and headed to the north entrance of Meijer to go help Ashton, but first I stopped by the greeter cabinet to get my water that I had left in there, but also to talk to Joe who was talking to Julie, she works over in produce, at the time.
“Hey guys, you havin’ a party over here?” I say to them.
“Aren’t we always,” Julie

Ethic dilemmas I faced was enabling Alan to be more involved in having some say in the services he receives, as I would have wanted Alan’s to be more actively involved as equal partners in co-producing and voicing his opinions rather than his family (Parker, 2014), this was a challenge for me while working with Alan. This user-led model of social work (Beckett, Maynard, 2013) argues that in order for this to happen, service users’ demands for autonomy, participation and inclusion must be met, enabling independence rather than maintaining dependency, by focusing on abilities rather than incapacities, and supporting their independence. This is the groundwork of a social worker but I faced challenges as to what is best for Alan, as he had become…

“I’ve been drinking since I was twelve, but I don’t think I was exactly twelve. Maybe older, maybe younger. I’m a little tipsy now but that’s not what you want to hear. I was once told I drank like an eel, I’m not sure what that meant, but again that’s not what you want to hear. You want me to sit here and tell you the exact traumatic moment when I began drinking; It was the first time I ever had that nightmare. The next day I asked my dad why drank, he said ‘I drink to forget’. He never told me what he was trying to forget. I thought ‘I drinking makes you forget, maybe I’ll forget the dream.’ So I drank a couple of beers then went to sleep. The dream was worse than before, but that was the cycle every night for the past thirty-five years.”…
