University or Work After Highschool
Should Young People Go to University or Work
Some parents in Canada attach great importance to the education of their children and expect their children to receive a university degree in order to have a higher standard of employment. However, some young students believe that after graduating from high school, they are knowledgeable enough to enter the workplace and decide to not go to university. Although this debate between parents and children is very controversial, leaving university and starting to work is good for young people because they can earn money, become socially competent, and gain valuable work experience.
On the contrary, opponents of skipping university to work argue that youth do not need to work to earn money because their parents will support and take care of them. Some others suggest that young people are not mature enough to deal with social evils, so they should not leave university too early. Some critics maintain that without attending university, young people will lack sufficient knowledge to survive in modern society. However, the advantages of leaving university to work far outweigh these concerns.
One reason for leaving university and starting to work is to earn money. After the age of 18, most young people want to become independent and would like to leave their parents to start their own lives. Therefore, they need to earn money to pay their rent, bills, meals, and expenses. After young people earn money on their own, they will find that it is not easy to make money, so they learn how to budget. Furthermore, some young people may even need to be financially responsible for their family, so they have to start to work to ease the financial strain on their parents. Therefore, the counterargument that parents will always support and take care of their children is not valid.
In addition to earning income, developing social skills from working is the second important reason. After entering the working environment, young people are able

Johan Cruijff once stated, “Every disadvantage has its advantage.” This famous quote leads to the issue of whether students should work or not work during high school, which has been a controversial hot topic in the Parent/Teacher Association. Working during high school may affect students’ school performance, yet working also provides invaluable working skills. According to the short article, “Part-Time Work Ethic: Should Teens Go For It?” by Dennis McLellan, “80% of high school students had held part-time jobs by the time they graduated” (270). Statistics show that the majority of the high school students held a position in a job during high school, and these students still graduated successfully.…

One reason people should stay in school until they’re 18 is because people will get a higher income. As said by Missy Remiss on the WSCH radio,”Those without a high school diploma have lower earnings.” This means that people won’t get as much money as if they finished high school, or went through college. Also, the data analysis chart shows that people who drop out of high school only earn a total of 19,540 dollars a year as opposed to people who…

Furthermore, even though most teens don’t have any financial responsibility of house, car payments and health insurance to worry about-because parents cover that, there are many potential benefits for them having a part-time job. Having a pay check will also help them learn money management skills, and with parents allowing them to go thru overspending with not a practical purchase, this too can help them think twice next time they want to overspend. It’s better to learn when young instead of in adulthood. It can also help them stay out of trouble with friends or avoid getting into any dangerous situations if they must go to work the next morning. Teaches them to invest a lot of their time in going to work and are less likely to spend their time frivolously or waste their money on trivial things. The child grows up, starts school, and begins making a pathway to becoming a successful adult in an ever-changing global society. However, that’s not the case with every child. Most children do graduate high school, and a majority of them attend college, but some choose to go straight to work, usually working underpaying retail jobs. Working a retail job is ok, but what happens when that job is no longer there and you have nothing to fall back on like a college degree? Obtaining a degree is one of the greatest things someone can do. An education can keep someone from living on the streets, it can give one greater opportunity, and it can help to lead a stress-free life.…

Higher education is viewed as a way of increasing one's prestige, wisdom, knowledge and understanding. Another reason why young people should be allowed to work is to gain their own personal money. When they work they can be more self dependent without always having to ask and rely on their parents for everything they need. This will help them to save for things they need and want such as a car. This will allow the young person to go out with their parents and pick a car with a reasonable budget. This money they gain can also be used to save up for college. Some young people want to go to college but cant. This is sometimes do to not having enough money and not wanting to owe back a hefty amount of student loans. This will allow them to help pay for college with the money they earn from working. “Students Who Push Burgers” is an interesting read. This is a topic that seems to be going on a lot in the community I live in. Some parents with children in high school actively encourage them to find work, while others forbid any thoughts of employment for their children. As a parent, I too encouraged all of my children to work. The economics of the family played a part in my rationale; however as a grand parent, I have come to be more in line with Mr. Minot’s’ position. Mr. Minot believes that education and student employment is not a good mix. As students enter the workforce, less time is available for studies. The students become consumed with demands of the job to the point that the job can become the priority.…

In the modern society, it is very common to see teenagers working everywhere in the city. Whether they are doing the paper route or working voluntarily at the library, they are preparing for their future. School may not be the best place to prepare for the outside working world where experience matter, but working at a young age could layer experience on top of experience which could later be of use to a young adult. Many may suggest that working at a young age could prevent students from concentrating and learning at hundred percent at school, but many of those who do well in school lack the worldly experience that is only given when working in the cities. Though many readers may believe that the proper education would lead to success all the way, it is wise to realize that being naïve will not help in the future, nor will it help in the present.…

I disagree with the statement that teenagers have job while they are still students. Education is part of important thing for everyone. Now, tuition is significant primary human needs. Some students while they study, they have a jobs to earn money. It makes student do not have time to study and do not concentrate with student. I have experience, when I was in senior high school, I tried to have a job. I want to get my money from by myself. So, after I went to school. Thus, in the morning I went to school, and after school I went to my job. I tried for 2 weeks. After I was work, I was very exhausted, so I went to slept and forget did my home works and my scores decrease. I could not manage my time. Everything in my schedule became random. Until My father told me when they read my report progressing from my school. He asked me to stop work. My father said that it makes me not concentrate with my study. And is not my responsibility to earn money. I realized too that since as well as I have a job my schedule was un-control so I decide back to my position that I still student. However, when I had a job, make me more experiences, earns money, and independents. but it is not my obligation while I was still student. It makes me forget my school. I still student so I had to study for my good future and get good score, after I finish my study, my parents will give me permit to have a job. Thus, I had to concentrate for my school.
