CONTRIBUTE TO CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE´S HEALTH AND SAFETY
1 KNOW THE HELTH AND SAFETY POLICIES OF THE WORK SETTING.
The policy of my work setting is to provide and maintain safe and healthy working conditions, equipment and systems of work for all employees and safe environment for the children to be cared and educated in.
The policies also give all members of staff guidelines on how to manage situations and what safety equipment should be used to protect employees at all the times.
Some of the health and safety arrangements in the nursery are: * All staffs are responsible for the general health and safety in the nursery. * Risk assessments are to be conducted on all areas of the nursery. * All outings away from the nursery will have to include a prior risk assessment. * All areas will be checked thoroughly by staff before children access the area. * All staff and students will receive appropriate training in all areas of health and safety to include risk assessment, manual handling and fire safety. * We have a clear accident and first aid policy to follow in the case of any person in the nursery suffering injury from an accident or incident. * We have a clear fire safety policy and procedure which support the prevention of fire and the safe evacuation of all persons in the nursery. * All health and safety matters are reviewed informally on an ongoing basis and formally annually or when something changes.
Some of the health and safety policies included: * ACCIDENT AND FIRST AID: This ensures all parties are supported and cared for, and their health, safety and welfare is protected throughout their time in the nursery. * ALLERGIES AND ALLERGIC REACTION POLICY: This ensures that allergic reactions are prevented and staffs are fully aware of how to support a child who may be having an allergic reaction. * SUN CARE POLICY: This ensures that all children are fully protected from the damage of too much
