Purpose:
The purpose of the particular is to study the nature of ionic reactions and to learn how to write balanced equations and to learn how to write net ionic equations for precipitation reactions.

Procedure:

For this particular lab experiment, I sorted all required materials out in a proper fashion and made a chart in my lab notebook to facilitate my observation documentation. In the 96-well plate, I placed two drops of cobalt II nitrate into seven wells in one row, copper II nitrate into another row, iron III nitrate into a third row, barium nitrate into a fourth row, and nickel II nitrate into a fifth row. Then I added 2 drops of sodium phosphate into each of the wells containing the chemicals and documented to reactions. I repeated this procedure of adding 2 drops into each row of different chemicals with the following chemicals; sodium iodide, sodium sulfate, sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate, sodium carbonate and sodium hydroxide.     The materials were first acquired then with the groups in the class each team was given a test solution to create and acquire information from then all the information was put together in order to save time. Specifically the group created test solutions #8, #9, and #10. Once the solutions were created, they were stirred to ensure that the reaction had fully occurred. The initial concentrations of Fe3+ and SCN- were found using the M1V1 = M2V2 equation along with the concentration of FeSCN2+ used in the calibration curve. Then using the chart that organizes the initial, change, and equilibrium concentrations of a specific products and reactions; the concentration of Fe3+ and SCN- was determined.
