Animal Cell
Nucleus- the nucleus in an animal cell controls every activity that happens within the cell
Cell membrane- The cell membrane is a thin semi-permeable membrane that surrounds the cytoplasm of a cell. Its function is to protect the integrity of the interior of the cell by allowing certain substances into the cell, while keeping other substances out. It also serves as a base of attachment for the cytoskeleton in some organisms and the cell wall in others. Thus the cell membrane also serves to help support the cell and help maintain its shape.
Cytoplasm- Cytoplasm is the membrane that surrounds a cell. Cytoplasm is anything that is in between the membrane and the nucleus of a cell. It contains the nucleus.
Mitochondria- Mitochondria are the energy factories of the cells. The energy currency for the work that animals must do is the energy-rich molecule adenosine triphosphate (ATP). The ATP is produced in the mitochondria using energy stored in food. Just as the chloroplasts in plants act as sugar factories for the supply of ordered molecules to the plant, the mitochondria in animals and plants act to produce the ordered ATP molecules as the energy supply for the processes of life.
Rough endoplasmic reticulum- Rough endoplasmic reticulum is very important in the synthesis and packaging of proteins. Some of those proteins might be used in the cell and some are sent out. The ribosomes are attached to the membrane of the ER. As the ribosome builds the amino acid chain, the chain is pushed into the ER. When the protein is complete, the rough ER pinches off a vesicle. That vesicle, a small membrane bubble, can move to the cell membrane or the Golgi apparatus.
Smooth endoplasmic reticulum- this acts as a storage organelle. It is important in the creation and storage of steroids. It also stores ions in solution that the cell may need at a later time. Steroids are a type of ringed organic molecule used for many purposes in an organism. They are not

The ribosomes are the site of protein synthesis. Peroxisomes contain enzymes for detoxification. One of the enzymes within peroxisomes is catalase. Catalase is involved in the breakdown of hydrogen peroxide. Microfilaments are made of actin. They form the cells cytoskeleton. Centrioles are composed of microtubules. Centrioles are at the base of cilia and flagella. They are also involved with cell division. Ribosomes are assembled in the nucleoli. The nucleolus is a spherical area within the cell nucleus.…

is something that lets some things in and some things out of the cell. It is an outer cover for the cell. If the cell membrane was non existences the cell would spill all over the place. Its function is to protect the integrity of the interior of the cell by allowing certain substances into the cell, while keeping other substances out. It is composed of a thin, double-layered sheet of lipids, around the Cell and is a protective membrane layer around every Cell.…

Located very near the rough endoplasmic reticulum, the Golgi apparatus is involved in a variety of processes. It builds lysosomes and, in plant cells, it creates complex sugars to send off in secretory vesicles. Its membrane surrounds an area of fluid where complex molecules (eg. Proteins, sugars etc) are stored and changed. The Golgi apparatus also gathers simple molecules and combines them to make them more complex. It then packs them in vesicles and stores them for further use, or sends them out of the cell.…
