Task A Guidance
Ai)
a) Reflective practice is a process of learning from your experiences and mistakes, in order to improve your service delivery to people receiving support. This is achieved via own thoughts and sharing your experiences with other staff members and management via team meetings and supervision.

b) Reflective practice is important as any mistakes in delivery or support often have a direct effect upon the people who receive the service. If support workers do not work within a reflective way the quality of the service is directly affected the quality of life of the supported people will decline and is bad practice.

c) Reflective practice contributes to good quality service provision by enabling staff to develop their skills via sharing their experiences therefore developing support in a person centred way. People needs, wants, wishes and desires are constantly changing therefore the way in which they are support has to constantly evolve as well. Reflective practice is a key factor in this process.

d) Working practices and standards are social care workers working rules. They are tools in which we can reflect upon our own working practices, they highlight legal requirements and prevent abusive situations.

Aii)
a) it is important for all social care workers to have some feedback upon the working performance, we all learn from our experiences and mistakes. Its part of gaining experience, also the people that we support often change so practices which worked and were appropriate in the past may no longer be appropriate it is important to reflect upon the way in which we work so that we can move forward and provide the best standard of care for our clients.

b) Constructive criticism can be very hard for some people to hear. A supervisor has to use open questions in order to engage the person and to create dialogue so that it doesn’t come across as demotivating experience. If a person feels that they are doing things wrong
