Stroke- where arteries that connect to the brain become blocked resulting in reduced blood flow, these blockages are usually caused by blood clots.
Falls- They may fall due to a slip.
Asthma attack- This is when an individual suffers shortening of breath due to the tightening of muscles around the airways.
Heart attack- A heart attack happens when your heart muscle is starved of oxygen rich -blood.

If the service user is capable and has mental capacity, then they are encouraged to take their own medication to promote their independence. If they are not able to administer their own medication then we are responsible as a care worker to provide them with what they need. We would have to take the medication that they need, which must be labelled with their name and the correct dosage.
Storing the medication needed for the outing.
Medication must be stored in correct bottles or blister packs with their names on.
Administering the medication needed for the outing
Only carers can administer the medicines to the service users unless they are able to do so themselves. We need to look at the instructions on the labels to how much they require. Double checking that they are for the right people.

As a care worker we need to record the medication in the service users care plan, documenting how many tablets and what tablets they have had. Also what other medication was
