1.1 Describe the duties and responsibilities of own role.
Within my own job role there is a wide range of duties and responsibilities. No two days are ever the same so we have to be prepared for anything that may happen. My duties as a care assistant include assisting residents that require assistance with personal care, which can include bathing, washing and dressing, assistance with going to the toilet, help with incontinence, weather this could be change of incontinence pads or just make sure that they are there for when they need them. Assisting with residents mobility. Assisting residents that may require help with eating there meals. Providing and encouraging residents to be included with activities, monitoring any changes with there health and well being and then reporting to the relevant person and then documenting the details in the residents care plan. To follow the care plan as this outlines the care that we need to give to the residents. We need to follow the moving and handling policies and procedures to keep both the residents and ourselves safe. To follow the infection control policies and procedures and disposing of waste in the correct manner to minimise cross contamination. Recording anything that is important and also how we may of assisted the resident, within their care plans stating a date and time that the action took place. Carrying out any instructions that have come from a senior person. Protecting residents rights and to promote their independence. Treating each person as an individual.
1.2 Identify standards that influence the way the role is carried out.
My role as a care assistant does have a job description which gives us a rough idea of the duties that we may carry out but it does not tell us how we are need to carry these duties out. There are standards and codes of practice, which can vary depending on which county in
