Unit 10 Video Summary 8:Truble Shooting

Video 2.01 Windows Update: This video briefly discussed windows update. The topics discussed were about security center, control panel access, and the internet explorer access route. The service provides different kinds of updates. Security updates or critical updates protect against vulnerabilities to malware and security exploits. Other updates correct errors unrelated to security, or enhance functionality. Microsoft Office Update was a free online service that allowed users to detect and install updates for certain Microsoft Office products. Windows Update , a service offered by Microsoft, provides updates for the Microsoft Windows operating system and its installed components, including Internet Explorer
Video 2.04 chkdsk (Check Disk) This video focused on letting us know the process of repairing applications. Also it clarified that not the same process are utilize to repair different applications. There are several applications in our computer. Topics discussed were: Disk Options , Drive properties, and Cross-linked Files. Cross-linked files are created as the computer is improperly shut down or an application abnormally aborts. It also mentioned the FAT Files that point to the same cluster. For this video it reminded me that chkdsk used to be scandisk.
In the Video 4.01, LAN vs. WAN I learned from this video that LAN (Local Area Network) is a computer network covering a small geographic area, like a home, office, school, or group of buildings. And also that WAN (Wide Area Network) is a computer network that covers a broad area (e.g., any network whose communications links cross metropolitan, regional, or national boundaries over a long distance). In addition, I learned what the difference between a work group and a domain. Domain names are used in various networking contexts and application-specific naming and addressing purposes. I also learned that in a work group all network computers are equal.
