Part 1
How do you gain an awareness and understanding of art and art forms?
Understanding art forms affects individuals in different ways. Such as, informing individual’s art is in the eye of the beholder. It also depends on the art piece—how the viewer interprets the piece. Art comes in all shapes, sizes, and forms, and no art form should be held above another
Do you have self-awareness as experienced by the quote above Ansel Adams? The quotes from Ansel Adams were interesting. How he expressed life, love, spirit and the world. I’m not really an art person. His concept in expressing things in life is beautiful.
Was there a teacher that impressed on you key art concepts?
No, there hasn’t been anyone that has left an impact on me concerning art.
Did you visit a museum as a field trip?
Yes, I haven’t been to an art museum in over 30 years.
Did your parents interest you in art? How influential has popular culture been in informing you about art?
My mother was a single parent. She wasn’t interested in art. But, I can say we lived in a beautiful house. I guess in a way she did have some type of an art interest. We always had music in our house. Everyone in my age range can respect popular culture. I was born in the late 50’s.

Who should define what should be considered art?
Reading the chapter states that are can be define as something that I created with imagination and skill that is beautiful or that express important ideas or feeling, the methods and skills used or painting sculpting, drawing, etc.
What are your impressions of what constitutes art?
Art is somewhat apart of life. It gives individuals away to be creative in their own way.
Did you agree or disagree with the quote by Aristotle about the “aim of art”?
Yes, I agree with Aristotle “aim of art”.

The Arts play a large role in the expression of inner thoughts and beauty in my life. From dance and music to abstract art our concept of life is shown through the various ways in which we interpret it. We use the Arts as a means of touching that part of us that we cannot reach with Physical Science, Social Science, or any of the Humanities. The arts allow us to be as specific or as abstract as we please. It helps us become closer to ourselves and to others around us. Though there has been a lot of confusion as to what the true definition of "good art" is, how we show others what is going on in our minds and inner souls cannot be judged, graded, criticized or revised by anyone other than ourselves. <br><br>The arts play a valued role in creating cultures and developing and documenting civilizations. What is art? Can it be defined in any single painting, or sculpture? Is it even something that can be seen, or does it have to be experienced? The term “art” is so vague that it can be applied to almost anything, really. Mostly, however, art should be that which frees our imagination.
