There are different types of settings providing care and education for children in Wiltshire such as; statutory, voluntary and private. Statutory “these are services that have to be available by law, i.e. legislation has been passed which requires either the government or local authorities to provide them” (Tassoni, 2007 p.3) For example, schools. The government is legally obliged to provide schools and to pay money for local authority. Voluntary “these are services provided by organisations such as charities where some or all of their funding comes from donations”(Tassoni, 2007 p.3) For example, Childline, as no legislations are required to enable voluntary to be created and are not regulated or inspected unless in a play group. Private “these are profit-making services” (Tassoni, 2007 p.3) Private services don’t rely on government funding, they are provided independently. They tend to make a profit out of the work they do. For example, Nannies. As they run their own business looking after children causing it to expensive.

For example, a primary school provides an education to develop their skills, language and understanding in many subjects. Primary schools also provide an environment which promotes the importance of personal and social development.
Children in primary schools also qualify for free lunches and milk if you are legible, fresh fruit and vegetables should also be given to maintain a healthy development. Voluntary services provide support, money and other services. They are funded through, fund raising, grants, lottery and fees. For example, Childline provide support to children if they are feeling scared, out of control of just want someone to talk to about any issues they may have. Childline will then provide the support they can and then other services will be set up to support the child even more and help them recover
