Unemployment Against Drunk Driving
Does Unemployment affect Alcohol Related Fatalities?
Many Americans have been or know someone who has been affected by one or both of the topics of this paper. Alcohol Impaired driving otherwise known as driving under the influence is a hot button topic that most Americans have heard about.
Unemployment is a never-ending merry-go-round of stress that the average American dreads. Many people watch the fluctuation of both of these numbers on the news year round, but December is a month when both get special attention. Since 2006, unemployment rates have been on the rise (Labor - Annual) while alcohol impaired driving fatalities has decreased sharply (DOT - Traffic).

from the east got together to form what was to become one of the most widely supported non-profit agencies in the United States (MADD). A year later, in 1981
Students Against Drunk Driving (SADD) was formed in Massachusetts. This group has evolved to become one of the nation’s leading youth education and prevention organizations in not only high schools but middle schools as well. SADD has gone on to not only work against the prevention and education against drunk driving, but destructive decisions. SADD is now stands for Students Against Destructive Decisions, and as a whole they educate youth against alcohol, drugs and many other decisions that affect the future of America’s children (SADD). MADD and SADD are two of the most well known educational variables.
From education, there has been a great deal of programs put in place by various companies for designated drivers. A number of bars, night clubs, and sporting venues allow a designated driver to have free soda or bottled water. Some companies, such as
Anheuser Busch have had programs where the company will pay for cab fare. And, on certain nights through the year some cab companies have given away free cab rides …show more content…
