This paper is to inform the reader about the religion called Catholicism. This religion had spanned the trials and tribulations of time, and been throughout history as the only religion held sacred to the followers of this faith. The following will be told about the religion that I have found from a believer/follower of this faith. I will tell you about the interviewer, the interview site, what the interview contains. Also, I will be writing about how this religion compares and contrasts to the religion of my faith, which is Christianity.…
The two topics I have chosen for my reflection paper are “The Authority of the Bible” and “Faith in God”. I have chosen these two topics because for me they are perhaps the two most important topics that we have discussed so far. What I will attempt to provide in this paper are my personal life experiences and beliefs in regard to my faith in God and the authority of the Bible while reinforcing these personal beliefs with scripture as well as from material that we have read in class.…
I come from Faith, a devoted Roman Catholic family. Faith is embedded in my roots, my mom is Catholic and so is my dad, I have two uncle’s that are priest and one aunt that is a nun. So, as a cradle Catholic, Faith comes naturally, it’s all I know. When life is pulling me down, I rely on Faith to get better. From my parent’s journey to America, to my mother’s childbearing, and to my coming of age, Faith has been a part of my life, even before my upbringing.…
One of Ave Maria University’s strongest appeal is its firm Catholic Identity rooted in Ex Corde Ecclesia. Identities held to such high standard, however, are prone to ridicule. The history of Catholic higher education has proven so.…
Faith is a very difficult thing for many people to maintain. Just like a building, in order for it to become stable, reliant, and dependent, you must start from somewhere. Building blocks and, “cornerstones” are a necessity in constructing a strong relationship. The four cornerstones of our Catholic Faith are Jesus, Eucharist, Reconciliation, and Prayer.…
What does it mean to be a Catholic in contemporary society? To be Catholic means to be whole, one with society, and having absolute faith in God. Today in the 21st century there are about 1.2 billion Catholics and with the growing population, we will build up in capacity. Catholicism itself is based on obeying and believing in God’s grace. It is based on the teachings and beliefs of the Church. We believe that God is one God in three divine persons. Catholics today find the explanation and desire in Jesus Christ, our savior that was sent by God for salvation. We were made in the image and likeness of God. As Catholics we shall thrive as he did and be one, holy, apostolic Church.…
Throughout its long history, the Catholic Church has pursued a deeper understanding of Jesus and his message. Driven by the human need to name the God who is at the heart of the life experience of believers, the church has many times attempted to sum up the core beliefs of Christianity. The fruit of such attempts is a formal statement of faith called a creed, from the Latin word credo, meaning “I believe”.…
Discuss how the Bible is a norm for the Christian faith. (See G. Baum’s New Horizons, pp. 35-50, and/or G. O’Collins’ The Bible for Theology.)…
Throughout history, the term faith has been discussed and discoursed time and time again. Often the question is asked: What is faith? Well the simple uncomplicated answer to that question is faith simply means what you believe. Now, the important aspect of this is that faith does not mean that you believe in God or have Christian faith. Throughout the world religions are characterized as different faiths. However, being the Christian that I am I will attempt to discuss faith development from a Christian’s perspective. Estep utilizes the faith development theory of a theologian named James Fowler. James Fowler characterizes faith development through six stages: Intuitive-predictive, Mythical-literal…
The Church is a Holy place where people pray and worship our creator. It is where we grow as a person bounded with humility, passion, and serenity or inner peace. But recently, the Catholic Church was bombarded with scandals that might ruin the clean image of the Catholic Church.…
* is a body of doctrine developed by the Catholic Church on matters of poverty and wealth, economics, social organization and the role of the state. Its foundations are widely considered to have been laid by Pope Leo XIII's 1891 encyclical letter Rerum Novarum, which advocated economic Distributism and condemned both Capitalism and Socialism, although its roots can be traced to the writings of Catholic thinkers such as St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Augustine of Hippo, and is also derived from concepts present in the Bible.…
On March 12, the first Sunday of Lent, John Paul II will publicly ask the Lord's forgiveness for past and present faults of the children of the Church. Interestingly, when I heard this I am really surprise how the Catholic top religious leader admittedly and reflective in behalf of his leadership to sin committed by the Catholic Church in the service of the so called universal Truth. I am Muslim by birth. The knowledge I have is that the Christianity is the religion of colonizer and land grabber. I remember my teacher in Madrasha (it is a secular or religious school for the Muslim children) thought us that the Crusaders are the militant Christian who kills our ancestors and took our land. Bitterness and vengeance are the emotion that developed in my mind and heart. I describe before the Catholic Christian as evil, highly political, close-minded people, and western instrumental to the oppression of the Filipino Muslim. This view last until my family had a problem, my mother and I separated from my father. We fled together with my brothers from Mindanao to Manila. New environment and community I encountered, it is a new world for me. First time here in Manila I am little bit struggle to be with the Christian community because they have a different lifestyle and world-view. The new environment helps me to cope and overcome my biases with the Catholic Church. Suppressing, how the priest talks with their parishioners, treat the non-Christian community, at least, in this Parish used to invite me to join with their Bible study group. I wonder from the first time because…
Religion is a large worldwide subject. It is very important to some people, and not as important to others. However, religion is very important to me and it is a major part of my everyday life. Many people are confused about different religions. The catholic religion is confusing to some people. But if one were to look into the religion they would see it is not confusing, just not well understood. Although I do not go to church as frequently as I would like, I still have very strict beliefs and follow a strict religion. I have been brought up and will continue to be brought up as catholic. There are over a billion Catholics in the world and this number will continue to grow with time. To be a Catholic means to have complete faith in god and his divine grace. There are many reasons why being a catholic is so important to me. The Catholic Church allows me to follow a tradition, and it allows me to learn new things about my faith each and everyday.…
