The role of an adult social worker is extremely broad, undertaking many roles to ensure that an individual and their families are able to access and make best of the resources available to them. Social Workers often deal with situations that are high in complexity, stress and uncertainty, often with conflicts of interest and risk. Most day-to-day work involves supporting service users, preventing family breakdowns, reduce risk of abuse and neglect and help people maintain or recover their independence. Building relationships with services users is a critical part of the role, empowering the service user and their family to achieve the best outcome. When assessing service users and establishing a care plan, person centred approach will enable professionals to deal with the individual needs of a service user. Often two people with the same medical condition will require very different care plans, for example, service users with dementia. Person centred approach will enable social workers to work with individuals, offering an holistic approach will ensure that the service users needs and the needs of the family are met, taking their culture and religious beliefs into consideration . However, like all theories person-centred approach has its limitations and implementing it may at times be difficult. For example, a service user may want services that are just not availably due to funding, accessibility or they simply may not meet the threshold for such services
