About The Author
Christopher Paolini’s love of science fiction and fantasy inspired him to start writing Eragon along with the rest of the Inheritance Cycle at the age of 15, when he graduated from high school. He became a New York Times bestselling author at the age of 19. Christopher intended to make this series a trilogy but later decided to divide the series into 4 separate books as he extended the length of the third book. The three books of this series that have released are Eragon, Eldest and Brisingr.
Presently, Christopher aims towards the completion of the last book of this series. He lives with his family in Paradise Valley, Montana. His family’s publishing company, Paolini International LLC, played the initial role in promoting Eragon with its publication. Knopf played the next big role in the promotion of Eragon and the remaining books of this series. Christopher has created the imaginary realm of Alagaesia in the minds of Eragon’s readers by sparking their imagination with nothing but words.
Summary
Eragon, a farm boy in Carvahall, finds a strange blue stone in a region of untamed forest called the Spine. He later finds out that this peculiar blue stone is actually a dragon egg. He secretly takes care of this dragon, Saphira, in a forested area behind his house. As time passed, Eragon realizes that he will soon have to reveal his secret to Roran (his cousin brother) and Garrow (his uncle) as Saphira grew and matured extremely quickly.
As soon as Galbatorix found out about Saphira he sent his agents (the Ra’zac) to capture her and
Eragon. The Ra’zac were able to kill Eragon’s uncle, Garrow, but couldn’t capture Eragon or Saphira. Brom, a former Dragon Rider, mysteriously appeared as Eragon and Saphira were about to escape and asked them to bring him along. Brom (in the guise of a storyteller) teaches Eragon magical spells and fighting techniques so that he would be able to fight for himself in dire situations. Brom and Eragon are later

According to the essay Herodotus: Xerxes Invades Greece, from The Histories, Herodotus was a very famous historian, who gave his account of the battle of Thermopylae. It is significant though to recognize that Herodotus was Greek and giving an account of what happened when the Persians defeated them. In the text Xerxes has many incidents that portray him as superstitious and tyrannical. Some examples of Xerxes’ tyranny is his plans to “march an army through Europe against Greece,” his want to not rest until he has taken and burnt Athens, wants to extend the Persian territory throughout all of Europe, his beheading of his master- builders, and his lack of mercy towards his slave and his five sons. Xerxes shows his superstitions when he sends for the Magians to tell him why the sun has disappeared, and the day has so quickly tuned to night. Turning to the actions in battle, those of the Spartans tell me that they are a strong willed people who do not give up easily, if at all, even when faced with a great challenge and are outnumbered. Besides this essay showing the Greeks strong will, this essay seems to promote their use of wit and skill in tricking the Persians into thinking there were less of them than there actually was. The account was written by a Greek, so the information in the story would cast them in a more positive light. Lastly, in our text, Western Civilization, there is a thurough evaluation of the significance of the Persian invasions on the Greek political and intellectual…

Drew Hayden Taylor’s “This Boat Is My Boat” and Naomi Klein’s “Local Foreign Policy” are similar in several ways as both essays talk about marketing. Despite the fact that the authors of the stories are from different regions of the world, the message that is sent in their essays is about exploitation. As a result, in both essays, the authors talked about the exploitation, the history of the products and the solutions.…

While different ages are momentous in the United States, when a person turns twenty-one it seems as if the person is definitely ready to enter the real world. A twenty-one year old step’s into the real world of grownups, accounting, and a legal drinking limit. A twenty first birthday is very special, as is someone’s sixteenth and eighteenth birthday. Both poems by Samuel Johnson and A.E. Housman demonstrate a person turning twenty-one, but both poems demonstrate different views on how the speaker and the audience feel. “To Sir John Lade, on His Coming of Age” is about the speaker telling his audience on how he feels about finally turning twenty-one. “When I Was One-and-Twenty” describes a young adult listening to an elder or someone they look up too about their new age. Both of these poems have a condescending or rude tone while they either talk or listen to the advice that they are given.…

The book of Proverbs is a book that can provide us with wisdom and knowledge for effective every day living. Proverbs supply wisdom for all people regardless of their age, sex or position in society. God wants his people to be wise and informed with quality applications for a successful and blessed lifestyle. An attribute to possess in order to obtain great wisdom on diligence and laziness is first we must have the fear of the Lord. Proverbs 1:7 states “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” According to that verse the fear of the Lord is an attitude of respect toward God, which means we do not want to displease God. In order to not displease God’s word in the book of Proverbs we must be willing to accept and try and live our life according to the wisdom that he has provided. Proverbs is like a manual for living an effective life. A wise individual will understand from the beginning we must know and follow God’s instructions of his word.…

Matt Lamkin’s “A Ban On Brain-Boosting Drugs is Not the Answer” first appeared in Chronicle of Higher Education in 2011. In this essay Lamkin aims to convince his reader not to deter improper conduct with threats, but to encourage students to engage in the practice of education. Lamkin tells us “If colleges believe that enhancing cognition with drugs deprives students of the true value of education, they must encourage students to adapt that value as their own” (642). Appeal to logic, consistency, and compare/contrast are techniques Lamkin skillfully uses to create a strong effective essay.…

In a short essay, a columnist Alina Tugend describes the modern art of multitasking, and all of the pros and cons that come along with it. Although multitasking has been socially acceptable since the 1990s, it has recently been found as a subject for study by many psychologists around the world. Studies are being conducted to test the human brain to see if it can actually perform multiple tasks simultaneously. Multitasking has a positive side as well as a negative side to it. Being productive while working on multiple things at once can be a positive, however texting while driving can be one of the most dangerous actions in our world today.…

Creon, in this play, is displayed as a classic tragic hero. Through different actions of his, Creon shows us his arête, hubris, ate, and nemesis. Creon's arête is demonstrated in the way the chorus portrays him as "the king of the realm…the man for the new day" (Antigone 173-174). Creon tragic flaw of hubris is shown by his lack of flexibility when Antigone disobeys his law. Ate is shown in the manner in which Creon quickly decides the deathly fate of Antigone for her crime. All of Creon's actions lead the final characteristic of a tragic hero nemesis. Creon's nemesis comes in the firm of Antigone, his son, and wife dieing because of his actions.
