USC Orthopedic Practice Executive Summary
I work for a large orthopedic practice that is owned by the largest hospital system in the region. It is now known as Palmetto Health-USC Orthopedic Center. Their action plan to achieve a sustainable competitive advantage over rival companies is to continue offering excellent patient care in new and innovative ways. They will do this using a broad differentiation strategy. According to Thompson, Peteraf, Gamble, and Strickland, differentiation strategies are attractive when the needs and preferences of buyers are too diverse to be satisfied with one type of offering. Another way the company is building a sustainable edge over the competition is by investing in sports medicine. We have many great athletes in the area, but they are not able to get individualized attention to take it to the next level. That is where APEX comes in. This facility employs physical therapists and those who have degrees in body mechanics research to push the athletes to the next level. They have all played sports themselves and know what it takes.

They employ over twenty physicians that all have drive and great ideas to share. The administration believes in their vision and makes it happen. The company did have the option
