UCL A: How Our Mistakes That Changed My Life
We learn from our mistakes all the time, sometimes we regret them other ties we don’t. One time I had the chance to have the world in my hands, but I ended up in a hole I couldn’t get out of. I had all the resources right there but never took it seriously. In school I wasn’t always the best top 4.0 student, but I maintained good grades. However, high school came I took everything for granted. I always had the impression of “It’s going to be easy” or you can make it later in the run.” You can’t have second chances for everything. At the end of the day it is all me and I have to be the one going through college. Since I was little, I always wanted to attend UCLA but I knew my grades weren’t fit for the school.UCL A is a school for the book smart kids and I knew it wasn’t the perfect match for me. I have a way of always dreaming but never actually take it seriously nor make it happen. Then I get mad when I miss opportunities or I can’t sign up because of my grades. It really hit me when I got my SAT score, I received a 870 but on my PSAT I received a 840. Only thirty points up I was so upset I thought I did good but I didn’t. I failed the math part basically and I wanted …show more content…
I got jobs after jobs more than one at once. I play volleyball and tennis and I plan on getting scholarship money after my acceptance. I really wanted to get early admission so I can have a higher chance at getting money but I failed that too. I didn’t push myself I procrastinated allot and it wasn’t cool at all. With my SAT score it sets me back even further and I have to retake it and miss early admission. Now I can’t because I was not doing what I had to do second chances don’t always come around. Many people wait for the college to call them but me getting accepted sets at a higher point they know I’m qualified. November will be my month, I am going to try to clean up my failure me and get it together before it is too

I joined a fraternity the following year. After joining the fraternity I put even less thought into my future and I just wanted ti enjoy my college years and worry about it later on. Around the same time I was going through a rebellious teen phase at home with my mom and that proved too stressful all together. I slacked even more and, failed a class one semester. I would go to class and did just enough to get by without caring for the consequences. Well it all hit me at once my 4th year. I was already behind on credits and had to seriously think about my future. I looked at the summary of the past few years and I became extremely disappointed in myself for wasting so much time and not taking my education serious. I told myself that this is not how I wanted to live my life anymore. I took a step back during the summer vacation to reevaluate my actions and my life and try to change my priorities to get back on track. After doing a lot of thinking I changed a lot. I decided that I wanted to go back to school and get a restart on my grades and my college education but in a different major. As a consequence I would be in school for much longer but if in the end I would study what makes me happy and I would be more content…

In the article, “Want to Get Into College? Learn to Fail”, Angel Perez argues that if students want to get into college they must learn to fail. Failure isn’t something that we want to happen. The way Perez perceived failure is that it’s a learning tool for the future. Seeing someone else fail can teach another of what not to do. Perez wants his readers to know failure isn’t the end but is the beginning of something…

When I first stepped into Anderson High School as a freshman, I was exceedingly confident in myself. I played sports, had gotten good grades, and planned to have an amazing high school career. Freshman and sophomore year were a breeze. If I am being straightforward, I did not focus much on my schoolwork. I did what was required of me and got good grades, but I did not go above and beyond. I had always been told by upperclassman, “It only gets harder from here. Enjoy it while you can.” Now I realize what that means.…

When I began my senior year of high school, I was tired and unmotivated and chose to give up and not put my full effort into all my school work. I was so excited, my last year of high school. I was always told since I was a freshman that your junior year would be the hardest and the most important because those are the grades that colleges will mostly be looking at and that your senior year would be the easiest because you're mostly taking electives and you only need to focus on you main courses such as economics and english to graduate. When I started school this year I put off all my homework till last minute, I was absent more than usual, my work was sloppy, and I wasn't really participating. I kept thinking that all I need is a 65 in…

It took me awhile to understand. I thought back to how I did my application, and what I could’ve possibly done wrong. Many people choose to shut down and drag their feet through life when one thing goes wrong for them and their day is suddenly ruined in their mind. I have done the complete opposite of this in my life and for this I think I am worthy of admission. I’ve been broadcasting on the air for three years, which is on average, three years longer than anyone else my age, I’m almost light years ahead of my competition. My work ethic has gotten me farther in my life in eighteen years to this point than some have managed to accomplish in easily thirty or forty years. I should be accepted to any university because I have the tools and talents to go far in my life, and I’m just searching for the college that can help me new and greater…

My name is Ariel Austin, and I am a firm believer that you “get up and go after what you want”, so here I am. I graduated in the year of 2010, from Huffman High School. I had every graduates intentions of going off to college and having that dorm room experience. In reality we all know that everything doesn't go as planned. I started out going to a community college in jasper, Alabama studying social work. What I lived in the past two years taught me that I have to be open minded and make every situation as a learning experience. Sometimes things do not go the way we wanted them to, but that does not mean that that is wrong. I got mad when I was pulled down one year, but I realize that having another year gave me the opportunity to prepare myself better for college. I was able to take courses of my interest and that probably I would not have taken if things had happened in a different way. I now know that I can face any problem with determination and hard work because giving up it is not an option for…

I was the kind of guy who always strove in order to get the highest grades but yet hadn’t decided what to do in the future. I wasn’t worried, I knew someday I would find something in what I was good at. I got to live with that thought for some time until I got to attend middle school, where I stopped worrying about my grades and managed only to pass the subjects. I spent most of my time sleeping due to the frustration of not knowing what to do in the future. Most of my middle school experience was tasteless. I hadn’t friends at all, and teachers used to discourage their students about their future. “You're not going to college, you’ll not be able to do it because you’re poor” used to say, Mrs. Vazquez, the math teacher who instead of giving her class, talked on how much his son had accomplished in college and how we would not be able to attend. That was about to change.…

Everyone in life will have their own personal obstacles they will have to face in life. Some people will mentally shut down and give up when faced with a challenge. Others will take their challenges and use them to better themselves. The obstacles that I have faced in my life have never hit me harder than they have these past few months. This being my senior year, I always expected it to be the most laid back and relaxing year of my high school career. When in fact I set myself up for one of the biggest challenges of my life so far, by signing up for multiple online college classes, helping out with activities all over the school, and playing football for the first time since freshman year. Although, under all this immense pressure, this is where my true colors came out. I didn’t stop working to my full potential,…

I set a goal for myself, which was to improve my overall GPA each quarter. Slowly, but surely, I was getting better grades and boosting my GPA. Junior year was my best year academically. I set more academic goals for myself. I stayed on top of my work and in the end it paid off because I was able to exceed my goal. My GPA has increased vastly since the start of freshman year, but I silently thought to myself: “If I’ve made it this far academically, why not end high school with an even greater GPA?” I know I have the potential to increase my cumulative GPA to a 3.5, and I am currently striving to achieve this goal with high hopes. I learned very valuable lessons throughout my journey of high school. Not all mistakes made are necessarily bad. Many life lessons come from the mistakes we make. If you fall, get back up on your feet and go the extra mile because it will help you in the end to get to where you want to go. I now know why my parents and teachers instilled in me the concept of learning from your own mistakes. My mistake was taking freshman year lightly. Although it is too late to go back and redo the start of freshman year, all I can do is continue to put time and effort into my school work. I intend to focus on a smooth transition from high school into college, setting analogous goals for myself.…
