Tybalt, Juliet’s cousin, was the living embodiment of the feud between the Capulet and Montague families. He represents the hatred the families share towards each other, showing how he has learnt from birth to hate the Montague family. He is seen as the instigator of countless events with Romeo and his friends, even killing Romeo’s best friend, Mercutio. After killing Mercutio, in an act of revenge Romeo kills Tybalt. Juliet, regardless of being related to Tybalt, even knows that Romeo “lives, that Tybalt would have slain, And Tybalt’s dead, that would have slain [her] husband” (Shakespeare 3.2.115-118).…

Shakespeare is forced to kill off Mercutio "lest he steal the show from the major figures of the plot". His brash attitude draws attention away from the problems of Romeo and Juliet. When Tybalt seeks Romeo in a public street, Mercutio challenges him to "couple [his words] with something" and "make it a word and a blow". His recklessness and quick response for something so dangerous is a demonstration of his preferences. However, as a kind of side effect, his preferences tend to pull the spotlight away from the main characters. Mercutio duels Tybalt when the swordplay is meant for Romeo.…

However, Lord Capulet says that there is no need for a quarrel. This leads to Tybalt being extremely angry, knowing that he is a violent character this is foreboding of the fact that this will torment Tybalt, eat him up in a way &he will want to do something to Romeo to give him pain. The quote, ‘I will withdraw’ foreshadows that a fight will break between Romeo &Tybalt later in the play. However, Shakespeare makes the audience think that Tybalt is going to kill Romeo but in fact later on in the play Romeo kills Tybalt. Romeo shows lack of conflict, even when he discovers that Juliet is a Capulet, it only takes him a few moments to get it in his head then he realises that it is not an issue to him. However, Juliet sees this as the main problem &it takes her longer to realise that it is not an issue. The main conflict in this scene is that both of the lover’s families hate each other and this is the beginning of the ‘Star-crossed’ love that is mentioned in the…

Hello family and loved ones of Tybalt. You all know me as Lady Capulet. In our family, Tybalt was a cousin, a nephew, my nephew, a husband, and also the most recent death in the family. I know this is a sad day as one of the strongest Capulets has been killed. We are gathered here today to celebrate his life and death and to also clear up for some people what actually happened the night he so sadly died. The night he was murdered was the saddest deaths we have had in a long time. That night, he was looking for Romeo, a Montague, who is the foil in this story. Tybalt was upset that Romeo had crashed the Capulet party we threw not long ago, so he went to confront him. While looking, he stumbled upon Benvolio and Mercutio, Montagues who we all…

After the threat, more fight breakout and causes more deaths, and only the deaths of Romeo and Juliet end the feud, no the Prince. The Prince hates the Idea of the feud. Through his hate he cannot think rationally, causing him to make the wrong decision and not communicating how to end the feud. Throughout the play Tybalt was constantly angry with the Montagues especially with Romeo. His anger is fueled when he discovers that Romeo crashed the Capulets party, after that night he wants to kill Romeo. However he does not succeed, instead of killing Romeo he fatally stabs Mercutio. That one mistake causes Mercutio his life, “Romeo slew him.” (III,I 180) In the play William Shakespeare never explains why the Montagues and Capulets are fighting or why there is a big feud. Tybalt is only part of the feud because he thinks he has to, he is fighting a fight that is not his. It is his families . The feud is pointless if the two respected families do not know why they are fighting. The lack of communication within and out of his family is the reason for Tybalt's anger towards the Montagues. If Tybalt…
