Two Examples Of Greed In The Hobbit
The hobbit has many examples on how greed affects everyone. In the beginning of the book, it talks about a dwarven king, Thror, who amassed so much gold and other riches that a dragon attacked the mountain for its own greedy desires.
Later in the book, the dwarves had a hard time letting the Lord of Riverdale, Lord Elrond, see the map of the mountain to interpret it in fear of having the elves reject their quest or worse, have the elves join the race to riches.
While in the goblin tunnels, Bilbo Baggins finds Gollum (a.k.a. Sméagol), a Stoorish hobbit, that has been consumed so much by greed from the “One ring to rule them” all, that he calls it, “my precious.” Gollum is so corrupt that the ring is the only thing keeping him alive.
