Tuesdays With Morrie's Life Lessons
Tuesdays With Morrie, a memoir by Mitch Albom, narrates the final Tuesdays of dying Morrie Schwartz life. Mitch was Morrie’s past college student, and during Mitch’s college days they shared a great bond. Every Tuesday, after Mitch viewed Morrie’s interview on the news program Nightline, Morrie would share stories and valuable life lessons with Mitch. Although all of these lessons held great value, the most important lesson of all is, “ Once you learn how to die, you learn how to live.” Morrie wants Mitch to accept that death can happen at anytime or place, before he can really appreciate what he has on this earth. Living a fulfilled life is difficult if you cannot accept the truth that death is right on your shoulder. Throughout the early stages of Morrie’s life, he lived in constant fear. His mother passed away at a young age due to illness, and his father was not there for him as much as he should of been. But as Morrie progressed through his life, he realized that his past would not change his mind set. He knew he wanted to live a life that at the end he could say he enjoyed. On the fourth Tuesday, Morrie tells Mitch, “Most of us all walk around as if we’re sleepwalking. We really don’t experience the world fully, because we’re half-asleep, doing things we automatically think we have to do.” This brings Mitch right back to when Morrie tells him “Once you learn how to die, you learn
