Trulieve Medical Marijuana Case Study
After years of political wrangling and delays Florida is set to launch medical marijuana sales Tuesday this week. So far only one company is approved to operate a dispensary.
Cultivation licenses were awarded to six businesses some time ago but thus far only one company, Trulieve, has received dispensing approval.
Trulieve’s first location will open in Tallahassee with plans for three other cities.
Florida’s cannabis regime is very restrictive. The marijuana approved for sale include a low-THC cannabis and medical cannabis for specific medical conditions.
Analysts believe Florida will eventually represent a 7 percent share of the U.S. legal cannabis market, in no small part because the aging population tends to be the most aggressive adopters.

In December of 2016, a new Administrative Controlled Substances Code Number for “marihuana [sic] extract” was published in the Federal Register, which ultimately created a new code for CBD. The Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) defined marihuana as an extract containing one or more cannabinoids that has been derived from any plant of the genus Cannabis, other than the separated resin (whether crude or purified) obtained from the plant, and placed CBD as Schedule 1 Drug, with “no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse.” However, the good news is that the DEA does not have the power to create statues; this power lies with Congress. Thus, the DEA cannot create laws to govern CBD hemp.…

Our economy runs on small and large businesses, from restaurants to day cares to large corporations and everything in between, there is some sort of business out there to cater to everyone’s need. When parents need their children taken care of while they are at work, they can drop off their children at a day care or when someone is sick they can go to a doctor’s office and see the doctor. A new business that is emerging throughout the United States is medicinal marijuana collectives, more commonly known as medicinal marijuana clinics. Marijuana has been a controversial issue in the United States for many decades and the legalization of medicinal marijuana has been a much-heated debate as well. However despite the controversies, medicinal marijuana clinics, much like a pharmacy is still a business that provides a purpose and has the same up’s and downs such as group conflicts, interpersonal conflicts, etc just like any other businesses and the clinic that I have consulted with in hopes of improving group productivity is BCC of San Diego.…

California dispensaries possess great potential on the market. However, you need to have a license before you establish a dispensary and it entails several steps. Also that, medical marijuana state laws (which differs from each state) strictly implements some general rules on starting dispensary business. California allows anyone with a doctor’s recommendation to use medical marijuana, whatever their health condition. Critics claim dispensaries are often no more than drug trafficking fronts.…

Medical marijuana is not the same as street marijuana, which is highly believed among the people who I have talked to about this subject. Now, I cannot speak for everyone in this state, so do not take this as a “state-wide” opinion. While street marijuana is very mind altering and highly addictive, medical marijuana is made from “whole unprocessed marijuana plants or its basic extracts to treat a disease or symptom”. The chemicals, cannabinoids, specifically THC and CBD, found in these unprocessed marijuana plants has led to two FDA-approved medications in pill form. THC, the mind-altering component to marijuana, although mind-altering, does have its perks. It can be used as an anti-nausea or appetite reducing medication and also can aid with inflammation and muscle problems. CBD, is not mind or behavior altering and aids in reducing inflammation and pain, controlling epileptic seizures, and some mental illnesses. Medical marijuana can be dispensed in many forms such as oils, inhalants, and pill form including suppositories. Now, like everything else, medical marijuana does have its cons to its pros. Majority of the cons I’ve found when researching the topic has been its harm…

Many studies have been performed that prove marijuana can help with the treatment of many types of cancers. Metastasis is when cancer cells spread from one part of the body to another (Mandal, n.d., What is Metastasis). Scientists at California Pacific Medical Center have found a compound in marijuana that can actually stop metastasis. This compound is called Cannabidiol. They learned this first by testing the compound on animals that had cancer and have proven that it works. They are now waiting on approval to begin human testing (Wilkey, 2012, Marijuana and Cancer). It can also be used to replace many pain pills that damage our kidneys and cause major addictions. Studies show that smoking marijuana can help lessen nerve pain or pain caused by surgery. "About 10% to 15% of patients attending a chronic pain clinic use cannabis as part of their pain control strategy"(Doheny, 2010, Marijuana Relieves Chronic Pain).…

Colorado, California, and Maine are the only states who have collected sales tax on medicinal marijuana. Recent estimates place the states marijuana sales tax revenue between 58.0 million and 105.0 million dollars. The Colorado Center on Law & Policy estimated that legalization would yield $60 million in state and local revenue and savings by 2017, and perhaps double thereafter.…

1P) The story of medical marijuana in the United States began in 1978, when Robert Randall was arrested for using marijuana to treat his glaucoma. Randall sued the United States and won, and the ruling required the FDA to provide Randall with marijuana for medicinal use. Since then, 16 states and the District of Columbia have approved marijuana or marijuana-derived substances for medicinal use[1].…

Davis’ bill further established a committee to study in-state cultivation of CBD oils, through marijuana low in THC — the psychoactive part of the plant — and high in CBD. While CBD is still considered a controlled substance by the federal government, the committee was given the responsibility of developing protocols for growing, testing and dispensing the CBD cannabis oils. This law has helped to provide ease of access to CBD oil to South Carolinians who were perhaps faced with the difficult notion of moving to another marijuana state in order to get CBD oil. The law falls short in providing for a regulated supply of CBD products, as well as failing to meet the needs of some epilepsy patients who argued for a greater ratio of THC to CBD in order for the treatment to be…
