Parking Problems
TROY—Parking on Troy University campus has cause many students to complain.
If you are a student at Troy, I’m sure that you have heard many of the complaints from other students, friends, and sometimes maybe teachers.
Candice Vaughn, a senior sports and fitness management major from Huntsville, Ala., has a problem with the parking on Troy’s campus. As a student athlete she thinks it makes it even more difficult on her to find parking throughout the day. “They need more parking regardless of how many students buy decals,” said Vaughn. “With the amount of parking they have it isn’t enough for all students and staff. It’s inconvenient with all the different color zones.

Tamara Greene, a junior business major from Troy, Ala., completely agrees with how trying to find a parking spot on Troy’s campus is wasting so much of her time. “I feel like we need more spaces because it takes forever to find a parking spot and sometimes it makes a person late for class or work and it wastes gas too,” said Greene.
There are also students on Troy’s campus that are confused. Many wonder if there are enough parking spots for each student that is enrolled at Troy University.
Jessica Coleman, a junior human resource major from Brundidge, Ala., is one of the students that feel like there is not enough parking on campus for each student. “I feel the student ratio does not match up with the number of available parking spots on and around campus,” said Coleman.

“I honestly do not have a problem with campus parking,” said Slater. “Every day I have to be on campus by 8:00am; therefore, parking is always available for me. When I am on campus, I make sure I stay until my day is completed. I live off campus so I have a black commuter parking pass, which allows me to park in various places. Most of my classes are in Wallace Hall or Patterson Hall so the parking area in front of those two buildings is where I park at most of the time. The only problem that I encounter with on campus parking is when I want to leave campus for lunch, and I come back and they are not any parks available. My problem is easily solved by going to another black commuter parking lot, but I might have to walk a long distance to my class. I do like the fact that after 5pm I do not have to worry about parking in a black commuter parking

College is a place where students go to get a degree in the field they want to fulfill their dreams. Since school is a positive environment students, shouldn’t get frustrated finding a parking space. The University of Central Florida (UCF) Orlando campus shows a high level of planning. The student union is at the center of campus and is encircled by two rings that contain the main academic and administrative buildings. Housing, sports fields, and stadiums abut the periphery of the rings (“UCF,” n.d.). The campus of the University of Wisconsin at Madison (UW) sprawls along Lake Mendota and is integrated into the grid-like street system of Madison. Most of the dormitories and sports complexes are on the fringes of campus (“University,” n.d.). The University of Maryland (UMD) campus lacks the appearance of planning that is more apparent at UCF or UW and is compressed by two major roads on the east and west, forcing the campus to spread north and south. A large mall occupies the center…

Everyone knows the intersection on Hoover and Jefferson. It’s where students and faculty and neighbors of the community for a moment in time all come together. That intersection represents not only ones entrance and exit from the “USC bubble,” but provides a moment of realization that there is life beyond the classrooms, the books, and even the 2 mile “Fruber” radius around USC. See USC, provides the opportunity for one to reach their goals, to take their dreams and make them a reality. However, sometimes it takes a whole community and a 30 second traffic light to get you where you need to go.…

This also includes illegal acts. Fans stick up for their teams, no matter what; Such as believing anything they hear and only showing what they want seen. Which isn’t always the best idea. In SB Nation’s article, by Mike Rutherford, he explains how the Tar Heels sports teams are avoiding trouble by claiming that these “GPA booster” courses were offered to all students- not just athletes. Therefore, not getting the sports teams in as much trouble. This quotes explains deeper, “This was a scam that all students benefited from, not just the athletes enrolled in the classes. There was also significant evidence that the students enrolled in these classes at least had to turn in something before being awarded a grade…” (Par 5). Wow, is honestly all that comes into my head. I understand wanting good sports programs, but don’t those student- athletes want a good education as…

Donald Shoup, an urban planning professor at UCLA and a parking guru explains that the price of parking is too low. Cars spend 95% of their lifetime parked, yet parking causes so many challenges, takes extra time, causes confusion, and contributes to pollution. He says that prices for parking should be increased to the price at which 1 to 2 parking spots are left open on every block. He described the SF parking system that changes parking prices depending on location and time of day. This method, called dynamic pricing, would change based on the demand for parking at different times of the day and in different locations. As many people find incentives not to pay for parking, such as the misuse of disabled passes and credentials,…

However, after arriving here, the experiences that I've made have altered my thoughts on college.…
