Troubling Arguments Against Abortion
Another troubling argument she makes is that the right to life should never outweigh a woman’s right to abortion; however, I disagree here because decision to have an abortion is context-dependent and for moral permissibility abortions must in justifiable situation. She provides an example of a woman who would have an abortion in seventh – eighth month to go to Europe trip. She says that this act of the woman will be “indecent” but it is not “immoral” (Warren 1973, 59). Considering that pregnancy term is almost near the end, the fetus is much more developed mentally and anatomically than the initial months of pregnancy. Moreover, there could potentially be a father in the picture or any other close family who may have started to value the fetus.
