Trophy Trucks Research Paper

Trophy Trucks are the fastest class of off-road racing vehicles which are designed and built to resemble modern pickup trucks. Although any truck that meets the safety standards can race the trophy truck class, they, for the most part, feature long travel suspensions and high power engines. They are intended for desert racing, and are not street legal. Trophy Trucks can reach speeds in excess of 135 miles per hour even over rough terrain. This puts them among the fastest off-road vehicles in the world. The trucks are most frequently associated with the Baja 1000 race, series that have featured trophy trucks including SCORE International, and Best In The Desert or BITD, in which they are referred to as "Trick Trucks".

One aspect of Marshall Gregory’s article, “Junk-Yard Rided,” that I find confusing is Gregory’s relationship with God and religion. Did Gregory see religion as a positive aspect of his life or a negative one? It is quite puzzling to follow his commentary on religion as he constantly contradicts himself. One instance in which Gregory juxtaposes his thoughts on religion is on page eight when he writes, “but if God was my accuser and scourge, he was also my savior.” Here, in just one sentence, we see Gregory’s confusion towards God and religion. A possible reason that Gregory’s thoughts on religion are so perplexing is because he did not have anyone in which to confide his thoughts and emotions. As a result of this, none of his questions are ever…

Driving is inherently dangerous, especially when sharing the road with semi trucks. While you can mitigate this danger by increasing your following distance behind these big rigs, passing one on a multilane road forces you to drive within a few feet of it. Likewise, only a few feet separate you from oncoming trucks on a two lane road. Because you can't entirely avoid these situations, you have to trust that the truck doesn't lose control or otherwise harm you.…

Introduction You have recently been hired as the CEO of Road King Trucks, Inc. Road King Trucks Inc. is a California-based truck manufacturing company. The company is well known for manufacturing large, heavy-duty trucks at a reasonable cost. One of its greatest achievements is that its trucks can be easily modified or customized for different applications. Road King Trucks also builds school buses. The company is considering an expansion of its current product line to include transit buses. You feel that due to high gasoline prices, commuters will be more willing to consider using mass transit instead of using their cars to commute to work. Company Profile Road King Trucks, Inc. was established by the Smith brothers in 1880 as the California Wagon Company. The firm started manufacturing horse-drawn wagons to serve the growing population in California. The brothers quickly realized that the times were changing, so they started looking for the technologies that would keep them at the forefront of their field of business. In 1915, the Smith brothers decided that they needed to make trucks as replacements for the wagons, because trucks were starting to serve the same uses as wagons, and the wagon industry was not going to be viable in the longer term. The company started making school buses in the early 1940s. Most manufacturers had been commissioned by the government to produce different large vehicles to support World War II operations. Road King Trucks opted to produce buses. It was an easy decision to make, since the buses would use common parts with the companys trucks, and the customers were local governments. Starting in the 1950s, the school bus business accounted for about 50 of Road King Trucks revenues. The Transit Bus Opportunity You arranged a meeting with the firms top management, as well as the chief design and manufacturing engineers to propose his new product. You presented an argument that more individuals in the United States and…

The squealing of the tires around me is not a pretty noise; most will find it obnoxious and just bat an undaring eyelash at it, thinking more about how their tax dollars will go to the eventual repair of the road rather than the events taking place. Then again, these races weren’t anything new, they met international expectation and the local clubs are known for having the best armature road racers around. The Coal Trailers are the strongest team by far and a major force to be reckoned with; they are more of a school rather than a club, they teach the tricks of the trade intern producing some of the best - their motto, ‘teaching them young’ and that is what they do. Most joined the club at the mere age of 14 with only a learner’s…

INTRODUCTORY REFLECTIVE ESSAY George Bowden OLD TRUCKS AND ROAD TRIPS High-mileage, early-model truck. Perfect for work or weekend projects. Some scratches and dings, no serious damage. Cranky starts, needs lots of TLC, but reliable. AM/FM radio with after-factory 8-track player. Still works! Some people write their own obituaries. When I hit my early 50s, I drafted this classified ad as a favor to my wife, just in case she was inclined to put me on the market. The prompt was a visit to my doctor, whose evaluation changed from “You know, Mr. Bowden, you’re in pretty good shape for a man your age” to “You know, Mr. Bowden, it’s not unusual for a man your age to … (fill in the blank).” I’m 54 years old and beginning work on a master’s program, which might also be a bit unusual for a man my age. Unfortunately, the first few steps have prompted some additional disclosures for my ad: Subject to misfires. Shifts gears without warning. Needs LOTS of TLC. Owner’s manual lost. I’m not sure if unintentionally cancelling my GRE after responding to the first question generated the ad re-write; but I do know there’s at least one young GRE monitor who was kind enough not to say, “You know, Mr. Bowden, it’s not unusual for a man your age …”…
