Trip and Tea Plantations
Ooty - More Positives and few negatives * Posted Jun 15, 2010
Experience: Ooty though known as Queen of Hills, the same can be felt from the base of Nilgiris itself. The road and the view near Kallar is splendid. But this splendid beauty was devastated with plastic bags and over-priced hotels. But to our surprise, the town still has several beautiful places that make it worth a visit. But we have to be careful in avoiding crowded places, tasteless hotels and frauds.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: We enjoyed our trip in the early morning and felt freezing temperatures. Our driver was good and fast and made to all the destinations within our targeted time. But the hotels in the main bazaar are not even worth for a penny. The taste is worst. Then we made arrangements with the Guest house watchman itself for some delicious home made food. This is cheap and also tasty. Shopkeepers are also greedy. Try to bargain and you get cheaper goods. The Home made chocolate is a gimmick. They never do it in homes and all are made in factories. Better try to buy all your things from Government societies where at least the rate is uniform. You can have lunch inside Botanical Garden which will be good to enjoy.

Activities & things to do: Elk Hill Temple : The trip to this is steepy and we can enjoy the tea plantations there. Try to be ther by 7.30 AM where the chillness could be felt fully. Pykara falls, lake : The pykara falls is average . The way to this falls like structure ( U cannot bath here ) is calm and good. The boat ride in Lake is good. But U have to wait longer. Try to be here by 8.30 AM and there will be lesser crowd. The Grass lawns in 7th mile : We can have a peaceful walk on the lawns. But here also the crowd makes us uneasy. For Honeymooners, a calm walk will be good. Try to be quite to feel the atmosphere. Most of the Film songs are shooted here. Botanical Garden: This is quite amazing. Here the children were allowed to play on the grass lawns which is

Colonial Williamsburg represents life in colonial times with colonial buildings, architecture, and performances. The Capitol, built in 1705 and constructed by the contractor, Henry Cary, has helped build the new nation during the Revolutionary War era, now known as the United States of America. The representatives at the Capitol were at the oldest representative assembly in the world. This building was very important during colonial times and it is still relevant to citizens today, not just in Williamsburg. Also, the motto “That the future may learn from the past” connects deeply with the Capitol’s use. Because of the House of Burgesses and General Court, government and architecture that the United States continue to use today, and how the Capitol helped the colonies become independent and a new country, the Capitol deserves a commemorative coin minted for it.…

    1. Kawasan Falls in Badian - This gorgeous cascade of nature, which is in the middle of the forest, is situated Southwest of the city. It is approximately a 2.5-3 hour drive depending on the transportation. Buses usually take 3 hours and with a private vehicle it takes a lot faster. You will be in for a little adventurebecause you have to walk for about 20 minutes from the road/parking lot to the falls itself. You might find yourself complaining from the walk, heat, and the rocky road plus carrying whatever you have with you but once you get there you couldn't help yourself but say "It's all worth it!". The place has 3 elevations that one can explore. You will get to see the major falls first, at the foot of the Kawasan Falls. Here, you can rent a bamboo raft for 250 pesos for an hour and the raft drivers will navigate the raft through the falling water, behind the falling water, under the cave and back to the open pool of water. You will surely enjoy swimming in the real nice cool water. You can also check out the “source” of the falls which is at the third elevation of the Falls. You have to be ready for more walking and an adventure of climbing. Also on your way there, you will encounter more falls along with the rivers. Finally, at the source of the falls, you can get there a great massage from forceful gush of the flowing water.…

Mercantilism and economic exchange between Great Britain and the American colonies gradually created a wedge between them. This wedge was not built by just one act, but several over many years. When the English first settled in America, they had no intention of creating a new nation. They “continued to view themselves as Europeans, and as subjects of the kings. Some believed that if a nation were to arise from the English dominance in the New World, it would be identical to the English empire. However, between the settlement at Jamestown in 1607 and the Treaty of Paris in 1763, a different society from England emerged in the colonies. Changes in religion, economics, politics, and social structure illustrate this to the Europeans.…
